Happens quite a bit, actually. It's usually with Star Wars or G.I.Joe figures though.

I've seen it at some Wal-marts, but when I point it out to someone working in the toy department, they say OK, and maybe put it in a cart, but it's usually back on the shelf if I return a day or two later. So I get the feeling they don't reallly care.

My question is why would someone do that? They are the same price. I've seen and understood the logic when someone puts a deluxe in a voyager box and returns it, but a deluxe for a deluxe? What's the benefit?

Most of the time when I see it, it's either an older toy like something found at a yardsale or goodwill picked up for very cheap,(anything that will fit in the box/bubble), or maybe one they just did'nt like. When people return them to the store, the Customer service people are usally not at all knowageable about the product, and don't notice the change.

I can only guess that they didn't like Starscream and didn't have the packaging for him any more, so they did the swap to get their money back since they intended to keep BB.

Or maybe they were just being a prick.
