The G20 Summit's there and apparently the Pittsburgh police have had to resort to tear gas on some of the protests.

My brother in law goes to Carnegie Mellon and says the city's on lock down.

We drove out there last year when my brother in law had an emergency appendectomy.

Needless to say I probably won't be going back there unless I absolutely have to. :lol

BTW, an update on CNN says that it was pepper spray and not tear gas.

Meh. The hippies always come out to protest the G20 summit every time they meet and the cops always have to arrest people and spray them with stuff. It's like a tradition now.

I know that they had protests in pretty much every previous G20 Summit but I don't remember if it got to a point where law enforcement actually broke out and used riot gear such as pepper/tear gas.

I think when the G 20 was on the West coast (Seattle, I think) there were protests and arrests galore.

    Nope. G20 wasn't in Seattle.

    1999: Berlin, Germany
    2000: Montreal, Canada
    2001: Ottawa, Canada
    2002: Delhi, India
    2003: Morelia, Mexico
    2004: Berlin, Germany
    2005: Beijing, China
    2006: Melbourne, Australia
    2007: Cape Town, South Africa
2008: Sao Paolo, Brazil; Washington, D.C. United States
2009: London, United Kingdom; Pittsburgh, PA United States

I don't recall any violent protests at all in DC last year. Maybe most of the summit was in Sao Paolo.
