Heh. This goes through, get used to saying "New Jersey Giants" and "New Jersey Jets". Doubt it will pass though.

Heh. New York Jets of New Jersey and New York Giants of New Jersey could work. Just ask the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. :lol

    Dumbest. Name. Ever. :lol

I like this idea, New Jersey will actually sound like it has a lot of teams for once and it wont sound like New York has the monopoly on sports.

If I'm not mistaken, the Giant's are simply that... the Giant's. Any "New York" that's added before isn't technically a part of the name. For instance, the Indians official full name is "The Cleveland Indians Baseball Company, LLC." as far as all official documents (my paycheck!) is concerned.

Either way... is something as stupid as that worth a lawmakers time? I'd like to think my tax payers are paying for something... well, important. Certainly more important than the name of a sports team.

[EDIT]Maybe it's not the Giants I'm thinking of...

I think it'd be simpler if NYC just annexed the state of New Jersey as a 6th borough. Problem solved!

the idea is sound, but the idea of it being a LAW seems just a wee bit ridiculous.

Does this mean that other states will be following suit? Will the Patriots will be the Boston Patriots or remain the "New England" Patriots?

    Seems a bit silly.

The difference is, the Pat's actually play in "New England".

The Giants and Jets do not play in New York whatsoever.

I could really care less one way or the other, since I don't watch the sport. I would like to see NJ get their credit though.

    Your avatar scared me.

From one point, it does seem a bit silly. But on the other, there's a lot of money behind a name, and to be associated with it can result in money along the way.

The Dallas Cowboys haven't played a down in Dallas for 35 years. The city of Dallas essentially threw a tantrum over its involvement in the Super Bowl bid for the new Cowboys stadium because it wanted as much of the money as possible from all the ancillary activities that could just as easily be held entirely outside the city...you know, close to the stadium and all.

As a lifelong NYer, I say screw the bastards. They don't deserve the name.
