You're thinking of this backwards. The movie writers might not have read the comics, but the comic writers have read the movie script. They could be writing the bridge between Barricade's absence in the 2007 and his appearance again in ROTF.

Oh right, that's why they're introducing a character in this movie which originated in the comics. Makes perfect sense.

Well, whether they want to say that it's not part of the movie universe, it really does make sense and the comics totally go in line with the movies.

Awesome. Barricade was always cool. I have a feeling he'll probably die in this one though (for good this time).

I'm sure we'll see Barricade in ROTF, probably in a cameo role. Hopefully, he won't get totally slagged. That way he can have a fight with Prowl in TF3. I can dream, can't I? :D

I figure that what's likely happened is *minor spoilers*...

Sideways was intended to be Barricade from the start. However, once the film was further in production and his model designed (and scenes with the Audi shot), the higher ups wanted more Decepticons for the big finale. How do we do that? Why, recycle a surviving model from TF1! Thus, Barricade would be inserted into the big ending battle, and Sideways would become a different character. From one robot, we now have two! Everyone wins!

I would not be surprised to see 'brothers' of similar design to the other fallen (hehe) Cons in a big final battle as well. Bonesmasher, Wipeout and Crawl, here we come!

Fair enough but a toy doesn't mean he is in the film. Should I point out all the non-appearing characters from the first movie line?

why would they re do his figure with new features? michael bay said he didnt want us fans buying new molds of the same toy so he didnt change the designs of the returning characters. so that leads me to belive that all the returning charcters have the same mold but new features. Then if if he isnt in the movie then why give him a new figurelike the rest of the returning cast memebers?

I'm very sure he'll be back, just hoping he'll scan that Audi R8. It looks too much like him to not be him

Bay isn't charge of toy production, Hasbro is. Also those are the eye/scanner things from the first one sticking out the front of the toy. Nothing new is being shown on that toy that wasn't in the first film.

Rampant fanboyism aside there is no real logical reason to assume that character is in the film other than "I want him to be".

completly agree at least they could make up for that misteak they had i nfirst film where he wasnt in the battel field and if he is in the second it wont be that much confusing to anyone anymore he looked weak in the first film getting knocked by bumblebee in car mode whe nhe was in bot mode toook him couple minutes to get back up on his feet & to get beat again.

as much i hated to see him to get beat in every battle hes in i for one would like to see him back to cover up that misteak at the end of teh first film where he wasnt there and maybe hell get tougher and actually give bumblebee trouble this time around.

Perhaps he is just a weakling. I took his character to be that of a bully. Bullies aren't necessarily tough, they just act it to get what they want.
