Well, Xbox market place has a demo of a space combat game done by Square Enix. The demo I played of it was awsome. The last time I played a space combat game I truely enjoyed was Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed.

I'll be picking this one up when it comes out, and gasp, it's a Japanese game I want. :D

I'm not sick in the head, yippie!

I gave it a go and I can see that there is a good game in there, but its buried underneath hideous joypad control limitations that make it far too much hassle to play. Probably not an issue for career console folks, but I can't be doing with that shit after donkeys years of having everything at my fingertips in X-Wing and Wing Commander.

Very enjoyable, but dodgy controls and confusing visuals.

The last space combat game I played was X-wing vs. Tie Fighter :)

It was fun, and I havn't played a space fighter since Tachyon (Bruce Campbell ftw) but as was said, the controls hurt. Hopefully it's a bit more manageable in the final version. If so, for 40 bucks, I can't pass.

I hope that it'll feature multiplay. Doesnt seem like a lot of space combat games get those kind of features. I knew it was bogus that Wing Commander Prophecy didnt have it (still love the game though).

I missed out on Tachyon though, it looked like it was a good one :(

The original was better. I had it for Amiga.

I played the demo last night.
I wanted desperately to like it -I still remember playing the original on my Sega CD.

However, I felt like I was just looking at a Heads Up Display (HUD) and not actually flying a spaceship.
There is way too much HUD. HUD for all the enemies, HUD for all your weapons -your craft is obscured by it all.
I never felt like I was shooting at other spacecraft, rather, I felt like I was shooting at bright circles with dots in them.
