    :cry

While I understand the entire Crichton deal, I've been following the movie for a while now and it sucks for it to get shot down like that. Oh well maybe they'll change there mind in a few more years. Not like I don't like waiting seeing how the last film was in oh 2001?!

While I disagree and think that two was in fact great fun (I'll always treasure the look of proud Daddy Rex when the baby leaps on the CEO of Ingen) and that three was balls to the wall shit, I think that even if Michael Crichton had not passed away, that a fourth movie would be a mistake.

The Lost World was great until it deviated from the novel and turned in to Godzilla.

I actually found the novel a bit over complicated in parts and drawn out too. Perhaps another reading of the original two is in order, as a bit of a tribute to the late Mr. Crichton.

And will someone turn his book 'Prey' into a film already, you fussy Hollywood pricks.

And yet it was still better than the American Godzilla fillm.

    Good riddance.

This movie was guaranteed to be shit. Name me a single other movie or entertainment franchise that's still been viable after squeezing out multiple sequels.

If I knew this would happen, I would have paid Crichton to fake his own death after the first one.

Jurassic Park 1 is one of my favorite all time movies, and had a tremendous impact on the way movies dealt with special effects. It also felt unique and fresh because, well, it was.

The Lost World was a good movie, IMO, until they brought it to the city - lame. As you stated, too Godzilla. the fact that only Malcom came back for the sequel took too much away from it, and the constant jokes about the first one seemed forced. Also felt it had too much of a "save the earth" environmental hippie vibe to it. Not that it is a bad thing, but doesn't really fit well in the JP world.

3 got back to the basics, and had more of a feel of the 1st one and was a great movie, better than the second. It just felt like something was missing.

The only way that 4 would have been remotely successful if they had Speildberg directing and making the movie his way and finding a way to capture the magic of the first one, i.e. the awe of seeing dinosaurs in person again. That really made the first one a classic. I doubt they would have made a great movie unless they really pulled the rabbit out of their ass. As much as I would have loved to see it, the slim chance it would have been good makes me glad they are letting the franchise end with Sam Neil and the third one.

Batman. Some would say Dark Knight is the best Batman film ever. It is the 5th live action sequel in 2 decades or 1st sequel in the new movie series.

I'd argue that. The original "Batman" film series and the series that spawned "Dark Knight" are two completely different franchises.

Chris Nolan's franchise is/was still viable since he's only had ONE Sequel.

Godzilla. You could proabably make a case for Star Trek as well, there's what, 34 of them? ;)

Anyway, I agree. The first JP was a good movie, a bit too heavy on the major action scenes and lulls between, but a good movie. It deviated from the book in a lot of ways, but it was still entertaining.

JP 2 was a good movie through the first act, then it fell apart. The Gymnastics routine to stop a raptor, the T-Rex rampage through the city, etc. All crap. (BTW, who killed the operator whose hand was holding the T-Rex bay closed?)

JP3 was good until the very ending. It was like the writer was holding the last few pages ransom and instead of paying it, the studio got a hack to finish it. "Uhh, the army saves them!"

I can't say I'm too disappointed at this news, I didn't think the franchise had many places left to go.

That being said, like any good fanboy, I have the perfect idea for what JP4 should be: Have Samuel L. Jackson reprise his role of Agent Neville Flynn from "Snakes on a Plane", who we learn is the twin cousin of Jackson's character in the first film. Pair him up with "The Lost World's" Vince Vaughn, and just have them busting dino-ass for 2 hours. It practically writes itself! :D

This really saddens me. I loved the franchise that was JP. Hopefully they can come around in a few years and pull something together.

I guess I'm alone when I say when it comes to dino action The Lost World was the greatest JP movie in the series. Of course it will never take away the awe of the first movie but TLW has always been the best for me. Best T-Rex and Velociraptor bits in the franchise imo right there.
