Alright, here's the thing. My gramps (who's quite tech savvy for his age) bought a new computer with Vista on it, and after 5 days of trying to get it to work properly (with one crash), he finally managed to get it to work. BUT, there's one little thing that's driving him insane...Namely, the whole "Give permission for EVERYTHING" thing. And while I heard about it, I have NO idea on how to help him shut that off. Does anyone here know how?
Thats the UAC you can turn it off under control panel, but be advised that this will disable all of the advanced security features pretty well for windows vista.
You can turn elevation prompts off either by sticking your grubby mitts into the registry or by downloading tweakUAC to do it for you. Turning off UAC totally isn't a good idea because you loose file and registry virtualisation, plus IE protected mode if thats your browser of choice.
Yep, spending several hours loosing all of the extra security features is a far better idea then spending a couple of minutes turning off the one he doesn't like.
