I had left him on my shelf in beast mode since I got him way back during the show. Last night, I got a new shelving unit and to reclaim extra space I decided to transform all my BW figs that were still in beast mode to robot mode. During Megs's transformation, however, his arm literally snapped off at the shoulder. The "door" hinge of his shoulder snapped off the pivot pin and the bottom portion of the hinge plastic cracked off. Needless to say, I wanted to throw the damned thing against the wall and finish the job. I know that figure is pretty old so its a longshot but -- Has anybody else had problems with brittle plastic on a TM Megs? I hope it was a just a design flaw cause I know I didnt use that much force moving the arms.

It's a fairly common design flaw.

Common problem with him unfortunately. I haven't transformed mine for years because of the fear of mine breaking.

Brown and gold plastic both do that. They just disintegrate over time.

I broke 2 MISB TM Megs before finding the right one. Crappy plastic.

Yep, happened with mine as well. The BW Metals version features a slightly different color/plastic there, and is mostly immune to that particular problem. It can be found fairly inexpensively, and might be a good solution for you if you're looking for another TM Megs.

My BW TM Megatron has stayed in bot mode for quite some time for fear of this problem. I've heard of it happening alot. In fact, when I read this thread title I knew what it was gonna be about.

You're not alone. I've gone through 3 of them!

#1. Same arm problem as you. It snapped right off no less than after having him for a week.

#2. Won this one in a parts lot. He snapped at the waist. His transformation requires you to turn him at the waist! A major design flaw for this toy IMO.

#3. Won this in a parts lot as well. Same problem as #2.

Yeah he is pretty much crap. Now maybe it would be different if he was molded in different plastic and then painted. But yeah, they really need to reinforce his shoulders and ESPECIALLY the rotating waist.

Hey how is Armada Predacon? He's the same figure. Does he suffer from the same problems as TM Megs?

I've heard A. Predacon don't really have this problem since they're made from a different plastic. My TM Megatron hasn't had this happen yet, but I've been too scared to ever TF him again.

Happened to me when I was still enjoying him when he first came out. It's been epoxied for all these years and I'm surprised it's still holding up. I'll get a BW Metals Megatron someday.

Just happened to me 2 weeks ago - was dusting the shelf and figured I'd give the bots a transformation as well.

*pop* his bot head broke..crazy-glued it. Then another *pop*..he busted at the waist.

So now he's there, all fixed up and stiff at the head & waist in bot mode, while I nabbed an MISB one off ebay..which will stay MISB...

Was one of my worst evenings in toy history ever, ever.

That's nothing. I got stories that'll make you cry and ask why!?!

One day I had 3 BRAND NEW toys break on me. Right out of the package.

This is why I stopped buying Marvel Legends and anything Toybiz.

Around the time of ML Modern Armor Iron Man, ML Apocalypse, and
(^both of these figures were fine. this is just for time reference),
SC Snap-Shot Spidey, SC Super-Poseable Wall Climbing Spidey
(^ these 2 suckers broke on me right out of the package),
The quality(durability/strength of plastic) suddenly plummetted.

Yet I wonder how Hasbro's Marvel figure quality & durability is.....Anyone have any new Hasbro Marvel figures?

Thats considered one of the few things people like about them now, it seems; the plastic quality is better.

It sure is great to hear that! Now I'll probably buy some Ghost Rider figures.

Are there any guesses if any of the plastics in use now might be prone to the same problem? I don't have a TM Megatron to compare, but is the plastic similar to the bronze/gold plastic used in CD Scattorshot?

I never knew this was a problem. I'm glad I got the japanese version. I originally got it because I prefered its coloring and details to the US version, but now I'm glad I did for this reason as well.
