I got the Armada Unicron figure the Christmas right after it came out (2003 IIRC), and it's always had this problem where the chest missile would sometimes spontaneously fire of its own accord, even if I didn't have any Mini-Con connected to his back. I've always just lived with the issue, but has anyone else had this problem with Armada Unicron? (Incidentally, are there any quick fixes? I don't mind if it involves opening up the figure; I'm not a hardcore collector and I've opened up Nerf guns before so I'm confident I won't screw up the mechanics any more than they already are.)
Bust open the Matrix on his ass. Pre-emptive striking is the only way to beat the Axis of Unicron. (and no...never heard of this problem)
It was a pretty common problem back when it first came out. I know mine had a fire-happy chest missle which bugged the crap out of me. I think later runs were adjusted or something to fix it. Mine went back into the box and into storage eventually - not because of the chest but because I was moving house. I dunno of a fix but I'd bet someone else's farm that there is one. Might be better to ask in Radicons as I'm sure a lot of those fellas have cracked open an Armada Unicron. Good luck.
I haven't had any trouble with mine, but I've noticed how the mechanism works (ish). The Minicon port on his back that normally triggers it has a piece in its center; the Minicon's center plug-thing is what pushes it forwards and activates the missile. If it keeps firing spontaneously, I'd definitely suggest taking a look at that, see if it's locked forwards/stuck for some reason. As to how to fix it? That's, uh, another story. XD;;
Oddly enough, mine has never had this problem and it's been posed on a shelf since it first came out.
Mine doesn't have that problem, but I would guess that either using a minicon or something like an unbent paperclip, you may be able to finagle the activating button in the minicon post to pop fully back up, then he shouldn't fire prematurely anymore.
I remember someone actually fixing this. Of course, I couldn't be arsed to memorize it since my MX-00 doesn't have that issue
I remember this. The problem is something to do with the latch for the firing mechanism inside the torso. I've no idea how to fix it or what to look for, but yes, you will need to open up the body.
Mine's never had this problem... and I've had it since it first came out. You could always buy one of the new Universe ones and do a switcheroo, I think the Universe one is pretty much the same as the original Armada one...
