I was just going through one of my G1 comic TPB and I saw a comic I never noticed in there before called "Prime's Rib". Humans were asking why there were no female Transformers, and why the one they did have was pink. Someone actually called Hot Rod a sexist and a pig. . Then Hot Rod tells Jazz he doesn't even get what a female is! It was just too funny. People were protesting with signs for Robot Rights. I'm just kind of wondering are there any more wacky issues like this?
I always find that story funny because when Hotrod asked what makes something female (I think) Jazz says it has something to do with a larger upper chest portion. And yet Jazz has a pretty large chest himself. As for any other wacky stories, quite a few of the UK black and white strips seemed to have more of a sense of humour about them.
I think I've heard of that one...didn't the Autobots create Arcee just to shut up a bunch of angry feminists, only to inadvertently make the feminists MORE enraged?
Yeah. I think Prime's Rib made more sense than 3/4ths of the cartoon, TBH. It was an Autobot PR stunt.
After. The writer didn't like the idea of the robots having genders (largely because it makes no goddamn sense for a species to have genders when it doesn't reproduce sexually), so he only included Arcee when he was pressed to. And even then, she only existed in the future timelines based roughly around the '86 film.
She was in the headmasters mini-series. That makes prime's rib out of canon as it shows her as part of fort max's team.
Sorry buddy but your wrong about both. To begin with Arcee was not in the Headmaster comic mini, and she wasnt part of Fortmax's team. But even if, Prime rib is uk continuity.
Then rather humorously, Arcee called the Autobots men, when the entire point of the story was that they didn't have genders.
Except that the UK continuity accepts all the US stuff within its continuity too (with the exception of the TF vs GI Joe crossover series... but then, that contradicted the US ongoing as well with the appearance of Ravage, and a few other bits, so who'd want that anyway?) "Prime's Rib" is an amusing entry into the saga, as were most of the B&W stories. Irreverant, tongue-in-cheek, to be sure, but uniquely British and a must-have for any TF comics fan.
I concur with Sto... I think you're wrong. It's been a while since I've read my old Headmasters comics (they weren't very good to begin with), but I don't think Arcee was in there anywhere. The other '86 movie bots were on Fort Max's team (hence the confusion on your part maybe), but that was just because they were part of the Targetmaster line in '87. Hence Springer and Arcee were not included. The canonical role of female Transformers has always been fuzzy and inconsistent. However, I must say I really prefer this approach. There are no genders. Some bots LOOK female to human eyes (in this case because she was designed purposefully along those lines), but there's no difference "under the hood" so to speak. The story mentioned was a Furman piece, wasn't it? zmog
