For those who thought the flames on Prime's truck mode looked bad... I invite you to take a look at Peterbilts while you're out driving, especially if you're in an area with a lot of truck traffic.

The flames were tame compared to what I've seen. I've spotted a fair number of custom paint jobs on Peterbilts. A small diner behind a Walgreens has a lot of Peterbilts parked at it constantly. One had a full American flas/patriotic paint job. I've seen a few Nemesis Prime trucks around, and oen that was almost Nightwatch(minus flames). And I saw one in G2 Onslaught colors- big yellow and purple ugly thing going down the road.

There's a qwide variety of Peterbilt decos out there and most any color scheme would have been viable for the movie. Be thankful they used what they did.

Its not a question of whether if looks bad or not. Flames are for Hot Rod and not for Prime. Its a matter of putting it where it belong but then again the movie is finished and so this is a worthless discussion. What the? Why am i replying to this? I don't know but seriously man let it go.

Flames would be only for Hot Rod in G1, but the movie's not G1. If they want to give Prime flames, heck, they're free to do so.

I think the people who don't like the flames just don't like how they fit on Prime. Prime isn't a hot headed kid, he's a stern and courageous leader. The flames make him look like a badass, and traditional Prime's aren't badass, maybe Victory Lio and possibly Animated Prime, but not a Prime with Peter Cullen's voice

But I personally love the flames

I've grown use to Prime's flames. It wouldn't have been a MB film without the bling.

    oh, and yeah

Well that's not strictly true. Traditional Prime's are badarse, just not in that kind of out there, in your face way. They're more of a quiet, reserved powerhouse.

Prime's flames were awesome. A lot more natural. I don't think the flames scream badass. Prime's always been badass (not counting Cyb Prime) and the flames don't enhance or take away from that.

I dont think Prime was worried about what make, model, paint job, etc.

Camouflage is all that his vehicle mode is. Saying that flames will make prime stand out to the decepticons? Well Bumblebee is one of three Camaro's in the world.

For design purposes it allowed them to make the robot mode more interesting to look at. At the price paid for this movie I think having more than two tones for the Autobot leader makes sense.

Do we see many people arguing that Bumblebee had racing stripes?

Frankly, I'm left wondering how it took so long for him to get them in the first place.

no matter how you feel about the flames, I think we can all agree that they're better than how he decorated his trailers in G2 (one of which featured flames)

Who cares if it's normal to see semi-trucks like that?

What the hell does QFT mean?

I'd like to see these bad Peterbilt decos. As much as it pains me to do so, I must:

Historically Peterbilts are favoured by private owner-operators and is very commonly customised to varying degrees. Really, Prime is relatively conservative to some of the extremes that some owners have modded their tractors.

Before anybody mentions the fact he is a 'long nose' truck, in the United States conventional (long nose) trucks are now more common because of relaxed laws on the length of the tractor + trailer. The only reason 'flat nose' (cab over) trucks existed was due to harsher laws that limited how long your tractor trailer could be.

So essentially, 'flat nose' trucks would not be that good of disguise.

Dude, Prime setting fire to a random forest is AWESOME.

    It means Quoted For Truth.

For anyone curious, the DVD featurette 'Autobots Roll Out' mentions red does not photograph well, so flames was a compromise to keep the iconic Prime image. Just be thankful Hasbro had to rein in ILM, because the design had too much blue at one point ('Rise of the Robots' featurette).
