I just snipped the outside corners at a 45 degree angle with some sprue clippers and then filed them down a little bit. I thought it was odd too when the back of the box even shows his bug arms having outward articulation. Maybe it was just something they didn't have time to change for the final release.

The diagonal slot and tab are mounts for his swords in robot mode.

My guess is that they didn't get the quantity they expected to. Not sure how they figured out allotment though since some of us who got the Email of Doom ordered right when it went live. :/

I got mine today, I don't feel like my preorder was special..i did so the day he was posted on Amazon. I would trust Amazon, no way they won't have more ordered. Don't feed they 'scalpers'. They have made it tough enough for barely rare figures.

I've seen a couple of mentions of a Takara set with Tusquey & Puggers, is this a for sure thing? Just looking for more info as I'm out of the loop on that.
I never did pick up Grotusque so that might be a good solution for me.

    ::EDIT::
Nevermind, found the thread. Cool, if Amazon farts at me I'll just wait for Papa Takara.

No $#*+?! I didn't bother to read them. It felt a little off as if the tolerances weren't quite right but close enough where it almost felt intentional. Guess it was...

...also looks like you're the first one to read the instructions.

Oversimplification here, but maybe Amazon was promised two shipments from Hasbro, and it was more efficient to divide their first shipment between distribution centers A through D and then the second shipment between E through H. But they never got the second shipment, and they don’t know when Hasbro will get them the second shipment, so people near A through D get the figure, and people near E through H get the email.

I’m in the second group myself. :(

    Probably something like that.

I like to imagine that mine was the very next box to be filled when they ran out.

Because the same reason Dinobots and Terrorcons carry weapons. More firepower and more options. Besides, Doublecross always had at least the one gun for that extra fire power going back to G1, and these happen to fit perfectly on his back and create an extra seat for another Titan/Prime Master.

That's awesome, may I ask exactly what tool you used and how? It must be an EXTREMELY fine tip, I'd be worried to mess it up

I've never done any modifications, how risky was the procedure? I always worry about irreconcilable damage to the figure but I really would like outward moving arms, the only tools I have are a nail file and a surgical scaple, would you happen to have a picture of this modified corner?

Just rotate them 180° and spin the thighs around.

Just tried that, and it doesn't work. The thighs aren't perfectly rounded, one side is actually flat/notched, so when you rotate them like that, it prevents outward leg movement.

It's about as low risk as it gets, it's seriously the tiniest bit of plastic you need to remove. You might be better off using just the file to do it.
The bit the bug arm pivots on is squared off as well so you'll need to shave that down too.
Fold the bug arms in like in the pictures, and just file away at a 45-ish degree angle, you don't need to remove too much, just do a little bit at a time until the arm can fold outward.
