So TFPRIME reinvented the Terrorcons faction as zombie Decepticons. Which could be a really cool way to revive all the Decepticons who fell in battle over the last three films. Just have Cyclonus or whoever bring with him a means (Dark Energon, Dead Matrix) to revive Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave, Bonecrusher, etc, and the Con gang's back and good to go. It wouldn't be a proper resurrection like in ROTF, but like a dark awakening like in G1 (an aptly titled episode). Have the Decepticons look more exposed and horrific, but still able to transform to hide their zombie nature. Does it sound like it could sail?
It's dark and somewhat disturbing, me likey. If the dark energy makes the Cons fart uncontrolably and grow boobs, we can sell it to Bay.
I actually had an idea for Dark Energon in one of my Movieverse fan fictions, but I ultimately decided not to use it. One of my characters (Speedstrike) had "died", and I had thought to bring him back to life with Dark Energon as a sort of Decepticon bounty hunter, with a different name too that I had never decided on... I'd like to see Terrorcons in the films at some point though!
Not really. It's okay for every so often. It had a bit of impact with Cliffjumper in Prime, for example. But too much of it will ruin the impact of it. Plus it lessens the impact of the movies. I mean, it's not like they had a ton of impact anyway, so lessening what it did have would be bad. Everyone who died comes back just because Magical Item comes in and gets used? Cheap.
The impact is pretty much gone. The only thing to do with the current universe is to bring in new characters or radically change the ones already there. I remember in one of the "Cybertron" stories, Skorponok gets resurrected by Unicron's essence in an undead fashion. He was hungry for sparks and in constant pain from the hunger. Even when attacking Sentinel Maximus, he was pleading for Sentinel to give him his spark.
