Just got this email from BBTS:

Note how they say Ironhide is not expected to be released domestically... I wonder if they mean ever or just in Wave 5? The wording almost makes it sound like he's another Takara exclusive, similar to Skywarp.

I got the same email, but surely this isn't a surprise to anyone if it turns out to be true. Has there been a single core (not Cyberverse) offscreen figure released by both Hasbro and Tomy? Ultra Magnus looks like the first, assuming he's not in the show.

At least this one doesn't seem like too big a loss, being just a redeco and all. It wouldn't be too hard for an enterprising collector to buy Kup at retail, order Ironhide, and attach Kup's weapons to him for maximum accuracy.

That's exactly what I'm doing, actually.

Not sure what I'll do with the weaponless Kup... probably just leave him in vehicle mode.

At least it's just a repaint. It's not like they're entirely skipping the mold.

I'd just rather have ironhide than kup personally

Yeah, it's things like this that made me stop caring about the Prime mainline.

Yes, but I don't feel like rewarding Hasbro for their stupid decision to release Greenhide.

He'll be a G1 Ironhide for me anyway, there are other 5mm peg weapons to give him.

Why is it a surprise? We have had ZERO indication that Hasbro is going to do a deluxe Ironhide. In fact, after Kup and Rumble, we've had no sign of ANY new Prime deluxe figures from Hasbro...

I figured as much awhile back so I preordered the AM version. I cancelled that preorder a few days ago however after a review for Kup showed me how bad that mold really is.

No big loss, at least not for me.

I put in a pre-order for Takara Ironhide just in case this situation arose. In fact after Breakdown, when BBTS puts up pre-orders for new Prime characters not yet indicated for US release, I go ahead and put in a pre-order then as US releases are announced, I cancel the Takara pre-order.

Not surprising, but still just a tad disappointing. I have a really good Kup figure in my collection, I don't need another. I would have bought this mold as Ironhide if Hasbro would release it. This mold was made to be Ironhide, so there's really no excuse not to release it as him. Even if he never makes an appearance in the show. If not for the fact that it was meant to be him, there's still the fact that Ironhide is more recognizable to the target audience.

Oh well, it's ultimately Hasbro's loss.

We've kinda ASSumed this for quite some time. With us getting Kup there is obviously a great chance for us to get Ironhide. In other words, I don't think this is a Breakdown situation.

Right. I mean, really, why are people still getting so upset about it at this point?

It doesn't have to be permanent-- it's just as easy to switch them back and forth depending on your display needs.

At this point I don't assume Hasbro is putting out ANYTHING I'll end up wanting. I'm better off just preordering the TT versions and then just canceling it if Hasbro actually decides to release it.

It's awful to think that way I know, but recently Hasbro has made quite a few head scratching decisions with their lines.

Did Hasbro tell BBTS that there's no future plans for Ironhide at this point? I mean it's a simple repaint, and there's future waves not yet revealed. I think what the e-mail is supposed to be saying is that on their site wave 5 has been listed as including Ironhide up to this point, and they are just learning it's not the case for some reason. It really sounds like they're talking about the current wave mix-up where Kup was originally going to be Ironhide.

So I'll just wait for Hasbro to say something about Ironhide.
