You just remove the screws from the assembly and with it open you apply some future floor polish or glue to the spring so it can't move anymore.

Though many people have found the 5mm post is'nt long enough to support the weapon underslung like on the show so their either waiting for doctor wu to make a third party option or make a gun from spare parts.

Look into either bionicle weapons or kotobokia armored core weapon kits.

look at this work in progress piece:

The same way you mod the Optimus and Starscream Powerizer weapons. They're all the same.

    Ebay:
Remove the spring then glue the joints.
Worked well enough for my Optimus's weapon.

It actually looks decent once you remove the spring and glue the joints together, though.

You could also remove the blue block on the back to make it look better, but that makes a big hole in the back of the gun.

It's really sad that they didn't add a locking mechanism ala Mechtech voyager weapons.

I'm gonna have to paint it as well. Even once it's fixed he's basically using a giant yellow glow stick for a weapon. Blech.

I wish they'd just give us accurate, one piece, solid color weapons instead of these gimmicky spring loaded clear ones. Even if I were a kid I'd hate this shit.

Most kids I know who buy prime toys like playing with the mechtech weapons, opening and closing them repeatedly and shining the dim light on things.

Kids are kids are kids, even if it does irk me >_>

I'll personally probably wait for a fakebusker release to have it be 100%
