That's no reason to dump on him. The smallness is more size-accurate, and I don't see what's so horrible about hollowness.

 

Shockwave's a scientist, Knockout's a medic ...

 

Just because there is a FOC Shockwave Deluxe does not preclude there being an Earth Mode Shockwave toy as part of the future Generations continuation - of whatever size.

I have a feeling one might happen as he's certainly suitable to add to the refresh 2013 earth theme and he also needs to get an earth mode one day besides in Botshots (and I actually rather like his Botshots vehicle mode anyway it's quite handsome).

Actually Knockout is a Medical Specialist as his "secondary" speciality his primary speciality is in designing and installing weapons.

So essentially he's a Weapons Engineer and Shockwave may do research for sure but he's not averse to building the odd weapon of war either both are capable of a greater degree of understanding of matters medical than say Breakdown would but neither are a "Doctor" in the way Scalpel is.

When Megatron calls him "Doctor" he's not addressing his ranks he's slightly taking the pi** and he's reminding him to act professionally and not with vanity and like an overexcited boy racer. It's a nick name is all though you could classify him as acting CMO I guess - it's not his real normal position and one he did not have just 2 years previously.

I'd say his fondness for weapons shows up a fair bit in the TV show when he tried to cut up Ratchet or Drill Jack or when he had fun and games with Soundwave's Sonic Disruptor gun.

But I'm worried for Knockout as he's one of the main reasons to watch the TV show and I've yet to see him in any trails for Beast Hunters as yet. If he's removed a lot of the charm of the show will be lost too.

I suppose if Laserback is a real rebel anarchist then perhaps he might add some humour or perhaps one of the others.

But to have him killed off or mostly written out would dissapoint me, as for Shockwave i'd at least like to get to know him a bit better before he's wasted.

As to Shockwave's toy I hope any spikeyness is handled in the harder rubber of Arms Micron Dreadwing and not in that really bendy rubber of the Hasbro Dreadwing toy.

But then some of Predaking's spikes are not even rubber at all (oddly).

also, I keep saying it. Go watch 'Out of the Past' and wait for the scene where Shockwave first steps into the room. The camera angle is from behind his legs and from there we see tank treads in his calves. He's gotta turn into some kind of cybertronian tank....again.

Knockout is in the minute long trailer of Shockwave introducing Predaking to Megatron.

And you're assuming that Lazerback will even be in the show. I sincerely doubt any of the Predacons other than Predaking will show up, just like I doubt the Autobots & Decepticons will be redesigned to look like the toys.

 

I highly doubt they will only have Predaking in the show.

 

I completely missed any rumor thread on this but hoped we'd get one - regardless of size class - when BH Smokescreen turned up on the board, since both he and Shockwave were given retooled figures for Takara's AM line. Furthermore as another character that hasn't had a completely new mold for their TF: Prime incarnation yet, Shockwave, like Smokescreen, deserves a removable BH accessory. Then again it might be relatively unobtrusive like that of BH Optimus Prime's, since the Voyagers seem to be taking on bulkier proportions.

I wonder what Shockwave's altmode(s) will be.

 

I'll need to double check as I didn't see him in the trail I was mostly noticing Starscream, Megatron and the cowering Vehicons... should be easier to see now there's a higher res version on Youtube now.

I'm not stating Laserback is in the show - I'm hoping he's in the show... (there's a difference).

The reason I say this is people say the armour is just "Spikey" but I think it has a specific theme - Don't look at Wheeljack and think Spikey - think "Feathers".

Look at Optimus his arms and legs are rounded like a Rhinos and he has Rhinos on each shoulder.

I think that it's possible each armour has a hint of a beast to it perhaps Bulkhead is a Tortoise ? there are after all a type or giant tortoise with tiny horns on them. (like he has) and his shell seems almost turtle like.

Perhaps instead of dismissing these as Spikey we should be listening more to what the box blurbs are saying and noticing the animal characteristics on the armour more than we have been ?

 

Given that TFP merges aesthetics and/or design cues together e.g. TFP Ironhide = Movie+Classic and TFP Ratchet=Classic+Animated and that the bot mode has a sign of tank treads there is a chance he'll turn into an animated-esque Cybertronian tank.

 

After reading this it all makes sense. All I caught was OP's rhino shoulders.

Looking at pics of soundwave, I get a bald eagle vibe from him.

I don't see why everybody says Prime has Rhino shoulders. It's just half of them angled up to resemble one, the shoulders are modeled after the Ultra Magnus model that appeared in Orion Pax P2.

 

Now that you mention it, they do seem to have some animal design characteristics to them.

 

Not really, doesn't look too much like the Magnus Cybertronian model.

All the BH line have, so far, had associations with animals of some type and it makes sense that Prime would do too. Certainly he is big and bulky like a Rhino and his shoulders definitely look too much like a Rhino head to dismiss as coincidence.
