I've bought three PRiD Deluxes (Wheeljack, Ratchet, and Soundwave) and I'm satisfied with all of them to one extent or another, but I've noticed that none of them have their Autobot or Decepticon badges. Why is this? It's not a fatal flaw, but it does nag at me. I'm certainly not a black belt collector, but I don't think I've ever had Transformers without their badges before.

(I'm new to posting, so I'm sorry if this question is old hat. I couldn't find anything about it when I searched.)

Yeah, it's strange, especially considering the smaller Cyberverse toys have their faction symbols.

It's either a cost-saving maneuver, or just a weird decision on the part of the designers.

I don't think we got any official reason, and I doubt we ever will.

Insignias seem like such a trademark feature of TFs that they really wouldn't be on "paint aps we can cut for budget" list.

the paint budget for faction symbols was exceeded and eaten up by all the shelf warming DOTM toys.

It was either because of budget cuts, and/or they decided kids don't really care if it's there or not, but that's probably why the chose to remove them if it's true.

That's why it seems so strange to me. Particularly on a figure like Ratchet, where a few helpful paint apps already appear to have been sacrificed. (He's my least favorite of the three.)

I guess kids are less likely to notice. I didn't even notice right away. I know that Ratchet and Soundwave's badges are small on their animation models. Maybe the designers thought they were too small to reproduce, but I wouldn't mind trading show accuracy for badges in this case. The toys seem a little naked without them.

I think it's size. For the 'bots anyway. All of them have very small faction symbols that aren't always easy to see. I couldn't even point out where Arcee's is.

Well I hate exposed faction symbols in vehicle modes they seam silly
Most of the faction symbols in the show are tiny and look more like plaques or badges doth at could be hard to replicate

But like pointed out above, the even smaller Cyberverse figures do have them.

Yeah, I agree it's weird. But on pretty much all of the Deluxes, there are other paint apps missing that bug me more than faction symbols.

Well, there's always Reprolables, and they might even still do the thing where you get a generic freebie whenever you spend 20 bucks or whatever it is on other things.

Arcee's are on her "wings" in the show.

I sometimes wonder if threads like this are breeding grounds for more budget-based conspiracy theories...

Either way, I actually didn't even notice the lack of symbols until it was pointed out to me. Frankly, if it took that for me to see the issue in the first place, I don't think it's all that important. Besides, as it's been pointed out earlier in the thread, the show itself is far more subtle with faction symbol placement than previous ones, so it's not like many of the figures are missing a very large and obvious detail.

They finally understood the concept of "disguise."

Jokes aside, most of the figures have clear places molded in where the faction emblems would go. And in the case of Cliffjumper's quarterpanel and Optimus's grill, they're pretty tiny, making the lack of a symbol understandable.

They're kind of understated in the show anyway. You already know who is what.

Love the handle too, Dome Zero. Wish I used it. LOL

I'm very curious to know why this is the case, too. It's not even something that upsets me - I just find it odd that the lack of insignia is isolated to one size class of one line.

Considering how there's only like, two Decepticon deluxes in the Prime line so far without symbols, and they're both obviously evil, I don't think the lack of faction symbols is going to be a big issue (especially when Soundwave's entire head is based on the Decepticon symbol).

Although that's not going to stop me from trying to put a small one on the little faux roof-piece on my Wheeljack's chest. It hides away in car mode, which actually works for appearing/dissapearing chest symbols.
