I know prices for toys are due to go up next year due to increase QC for safety issues, but I did not think that applied to existing assortments already out. I went out looking for some GI Joe figures here in Seattle, as I heard Wv 4 was hitting Target and Fred Meyers, and at 2 different Targets, deluxes were now $10.99 where last week they were $9.99. I hit a TRU and their deluxes also were upped to $10.99 (though shelves still had $9.99 tags) and the Leader size was $42.99. An employee there said when the Voyagers go off sale, they will go up too. So is this in preparation of the price increase, or are stores just trying to capitalize on the #1 Boy's Toy this holiday season?

This is all due to the old lead paint scandal, with less toys on the market and in the season with the highest toy demand, a price rise is obvious. Simple economy

Not surprised. TRU and Target are known for jacking up the prices. If you collect Star Wars or GI Joe, you know how these stores often charge a few bucks more than say Walmart.

A price hike has been a long time coming anyways. Deluxes have been the same price for ten years. I wouldn't mind a price hike if that means we'll get better paint applications.

Most of the TRU's around here had deluxes at $10.99 or more before the whole recall scare started.

Question: what is 10.99 in Aussie dollars? COme to think of it, wat is $24 in US dollars? Once these questions have been answered, I can properly react to the 'price hike'.

    God damn...

I know a dollar difference doesn't seem like THAT much, but I've had to put off buying TFs for a while as it was..a price raise just means I'll be picking up much less than I intended to now. Looks like I will be passing on more than just Bulkhead from animated.

Well, you're still not anywhere near the $30 US retail price on deluxes that we have here in Sweden.... Not to mention SWTF deluxes that are $60 a pop...

Ditto here in Denmark. The toystore BR currently has Deluxes on sale for $25.5 and Voyagers for $39.5. In TRU both are 4-5 USD more. Leaderclass figure have been on sale for ½ the price, around $57 instead of $109.

TRU around here has always had deluxes for $10.99 (at least since Classics were around).

Target's been pretty good, but I bet they did bump up the price...

Kmart on the other hand... $25 voyagers, $13 deluxes, $18 Titaniums (6 inch), $52 Leaders... They made KB Toys sound cheap!

I'm more interested in seeing if the price hike will show up in the quality of the TFs and the paint apps.

The price hike of the toys is likely due to the combination of the lead paint scare, higher Chinese wages, and the falling US dollar in comparison to many other currencies, so I doubt this will affect stuff like that.

I would assume that the rising cost of petrol is also a big factor in this, I don't think that the lead-paint scandal would be affecting TF sales, since it didn't affect any Hasbro product and the TF line has sold incredibly well. I would say it's down to the petrol and the US' weaker dollar.

Here in NZ the Movie deluxes were $5 more expensive than Classics/Cybertron Deluxes were, Voyagers were $5 more expensive, Leader stayed the same however.

TRU in my area sold Classics deluxes for $13 apiece, so the fact they sold movie deluxes at the normal $10 felt odd to me.
