If they were really concerned about the outcome, they would have included an HD-DVD drive in the Elite model. Their backing of HD-DVD is more of a "we don't want to back a Sony product" than it is a legitimate backing of HD-DVD.
Perhaps. I think there were two basic approaches to this. 1) Completely tether your system to one format, in the hopes that the success of one would buoy the success of the second. 2) Keep the format and the system separate, so that if one fails, it won't bring down the other. Now, if both Sony and Microsoft had tried the same strategy, things might be more interesting. But as it turns out, Sony went with option 1, and Microsoft option 2, which, at least at first glance, gives BR support and leaves HD hung out to dry.
True, though I do think the 360 games could have benefited from larger capacity disc's. I'm lookign in EA's direction when I say that.
It figures that a month after I get my HD DVD drive, they drop the price on the bugger. I wonder if Gamestop will give me a rebate or something.
That price isnt too bad. I may buy on just to strip and put into my computer... Now somebody needs to make some software for the PC that can play HDDVD.
I was going to harass all of you for godawful mathematics skills. Then I read the rest of the thread. But yeah, awesome. Might pick one up if I get an HDTV.
I like it. I probably use it more than any other part of my 360, and it certainly works better than the Blu-Ray in the PS3 (at least for now) since it doesn't have any of the pausing issues, and upconverts.
I will send this to my friend and LOL at him for buying it full price not even a year ago. Even though the new price is more attractive I’m still going to wait it out a bit longer. It helps that I don’t have a HD-TV to take advantage of it any way.
I was thinking about doin the same thing that way ill be sble to play hd-dvd movies now and blu ray movies in the future when i get a ps3
