Haven't seen any on ebay, anyone know the rough rate going on these bad boys?
Referring to this guy:
VERY expensive plus $50 after the Proctector pictures came out.
I understand that everyone loves EVIL versions of beloved characters, but the going rate for Shattered Glass figures have gone out of control!!
Why? What's the going rate?
In referencing recently completed Ebay auctions:
A complete set: $1800
A Bagged set of the main 5 figures: $780
That means that Megatron/Blurr/Ricochet/Rodimus/Sideswipe is valued at over A THOUSAND DOLLARS??
I know! It's crazy!
Though to be fair, the boxed main set would probably go for more than $780 so the extra figures are worth SLIGHTLY less than a thousand dollars.
The complete set at $1800 was a "best offer" which is higher. The extras sold for $600 (BIN) so that $400 extra is the box + ricochet + overprice that was paid for "best offer".
Someone paid $320 for Hot Rod but it was a Buy It Now so the price of Hot Rod is probably higher then that. If I had to break the $600 down my guess is this:
Megatron - $125-$175
Hot Rod - $325-$400
Sideswipe - $50-$75
Blurr - ~$50
Total - $550-$700
only if they put out a shattered glass version of it as the normal would look very odd on SG Hot Rod. and i think if you go by the fact they never made a SG version of the commander armor the odds of a SG Protector are rather low.
Doesn't matter. The Protector armor drives up the value of the Classics and Henkei Hot Rod. By default, the rarer repaint of those two also go up in value since the mold's not common. It's not coincidence that the same day we get updated pictures of Protector the $300 BIN Wildrider and $400 BIN Wildrider/Hot Rod that have been on ebay for six months gets bought. If Takara reissues the Henkei Hot Rod or Hasbro uses the mold again in Generations then the value should dip.
EDIT: The day the Protector pics came out Henkei Hot Rod's price jumped $20-$30.
agreed but in this case its a side effect rather than a direct cause asi would doubt any one would buy the protector to use on a SG hot rod
Last year when I moved home from Osaka I remember seeing him about $140USD ish loose from the shop in DenDen town.
Not quite from what I've seen. The attendee exclusives should come in around $700-800 USD.
Yep...from what I have seen and sold myself, the box set should go for $850-1100 USD depending on how much a box, COA and comic are worth to you. Although the box art is AWESOME I prefer my figures sealed up so I would be more incline to go after bagged versions of Botcon figures.
Yep ^ right here is a nice breakdown
I would be doing a SG PROTECTOR, if i can find a loose one, to get FRENZY_RUMBLE to customize.
I am actually surprised SG Hot Rod goes for more than megatron considering that megatron:
-has a remolded head
-is the main deception and counterpart to SG Prime
-is a larger class figure
cool , but im am sure the vast majority will go straight on Classics or Henkei Rodimus'
oh i hope they do a sg armor, i know they wont for wildrider, doesnt make sense.
wow I bought this set at the con and shoved it on a shelf along with the extra figures and promptly forgot about it, here I thought it was almost as worthless as last years set , go figure.
Prices are determined entirely by demand. Only the popular toys get the 3 figure prices. People do not ask for a price check on Shattered Glass Rampage because they usually do not want it. It is incorrect to generalize a series of toys as being too expensive, as most collectors are picky and want to pick the cream of the crop like Rodimus and ignore the rest. A common saying is that if you have to ask for a price check then it is probably too high for your budget, anyway.
