I did, as did my girlfriend.

Sideswipe is awesome, I can't put him down.

I hate to say it but I totally agree. Also, since we now know that it won't be a TFCC toy next year, the prospect of getting a mass release at all seems pretty bleak

Yeah.... I originally told myself, "well, that's a cool bonus for those who went, but I already have Sideswipe in G1 colors, and I have too many of that mold as is, so I don't regret it." But, man, the G2 Sideswipe toy is one of the few vintage pieces I have, and as much as I try to assure myself "It's just his g1 colors inverted," it still looks really good on the modern mold. The translucent green parts that the vintage one didn't have are what really ramp it up...

I need to fix some things on mine and my girlfriend's and apply the stickers still. These are pictures I took while in Florida.

Thanks for the pics, looks lovely! Could you give a list of the paint aps too?

    I see:
    -silver for the wheels
    -black for the tires
-black on the car roof to cover up translucent green
    -red on the chest
-a bit of red on the shoulders
    -red on the tail lights
-blue on the gun barrel tip
    Anything else?

Then the stickers, I assume, are the "SS" on the side, the "Sideswipe" on the spoiler, the license plate, and the G2 Autobot logo on the chest, right? Anything else?

-There was some red paint apps on the crotch area too, since it came off a white sprue.
-Depending on how the red on the chest was applied, some black was needed to outline the chest area. If you had masked it off, you didn't need to paint it black again.
-A little bit of yellow on lights on the side of the hood. Just look at the you Universe Sideswipe and you would see the similar yellow painted on there.
-The engine had minor black paint applications as well.

The only sticker you haven't listed I think is the piece green/white sticker on roof of the car. This is the location where the original G2 Sideswipe had the hole pegged for the gun. That was a nice touch.

He looks really good, with the right application of paint anyway. The unpainted one looks KO ish :p

Too bad this wont see a wide release, but since you have to paint this one anyway, I may just paint my old universe one that got replaced by the henkie.

Im always terrified of painting toys though.

Awesome info, thanks! I'll have to see if my volunteer-work Sideswipe kit has a sticker sheet... I'm guessing not. But he should look pretty alright with just the face, roof, and wheel/tire detailing at a minimum.

too bad reprolables does not have a g2 Sideswipe sticker set, some of those would work on the Universe mold as well.

You could just save the effort and sell it to me :p

Real issue is going to be color matching if you were not in the class. I suppose someone that was there could tell you the paints used so you could use the same ones.

you might get someone to scan their sticker and email it too you...

Actually can someone high res scan their sticker sheet and email it to me? lol

    Good Luck!

I plan to just use some fine point sharpies. (A silver one was a great fix for U2 Ironhide) But I'll be testing everything on the excess sprue plastic first of course.

Also, paint the face silver. The volunteer kit did not have stickers or instructions unless you asked since those were prepared by Shawn for the customizing class.

If you were a volunteer and need the instructions PM me your name and email and I'll shoot you a PDF of the instructions. Or you can request it directly from Shawn.

I bought a Dion and its face was unpainted. If those directions might list a recommended paint pen or something for a silver face, would you forward that to me as well?

The instructions just list things like "RLM", "Cobalt Blue", "Metallic Silver" or so but they were labels Shawn put on so it won't help much. I've heard the silver sharpie works wonder.

I'd just use silver paint. Its not too expensive. I just wouldn't trust a sharpie.
