Beautiful, love the painterly pastel-like coloring style Su adds to his linework. It really strengthens the individual pages. Wish this can be done each issue, but I can also see how painstakingly laborious it can be to do everything from linework to inks AND colors.

Oh, and fosterlager and Spartan Prime may be right with that Furman-created character getting slagged soon.

Man, that looks 150x better than his more "standard" comic art!!! i might have to break my IDW boycott for this.

 

Holy shit, finally, a fully painted TF comic instead of just cover-shot teases. Fantastic! This is so hot.

Fuck this is going to be awesome. Su's art slowly grew on me over the years, and I am a fan of the covers that feature all art by him. This book is like seeing a book full of those covers...this is going to kick ass.

 

I LOVE Su's art. I know Don's the fan favorite, and I dig his stuff, but Su is just perfect for what IDW's been doing.

Can't wait to see what he does with colors on his own art.

Plus, Sideswipe? I'm looking forward to this issue!

 

I love the look of the issue, great work!

However, I'm not sure that I'm a fan of the drastic change of style. I like to see consistency through the main ongoing.

 

What's so amazing to me is how technical Su's work is. He has done nothing but expand leaps and bounds. What a risk taker! It reminds me of early G1 boxart without the odd foreshortening. It makes me think of the haunted mansion ride at disney world too. This is a great direction for Su's talents.
Thank you IDW. They need to team up Matere with his star wars TF boxart style and Su's "oil" painting style and bring us a no-black-outline mini-series with all japanese characters. yea.

Holy hell, if this doesn't look amazing then I don't know what else does. I love how strong his shoulders look. If Sideswipe makes it into the movie, I really hope he has those shoulder. Totally awesome.

 

The art style is a little jarring at first, but I must admit I do like it now. It's a refreshing change of style, I think.

I think you're right. Is it an easter egg or does Straxus feature in this Spotlight somehow?
