CONAN: THE FRAZETTA COVER SERIES #5 (of 8)

    Publisher:
    Archie Comics
    Writers: Timothy Truman
    Pencils: Cary Nord, Tomas Giorello
    Covers: Frank Frazetta
    Colorists: Richard Isanove, Dave Stewart

    Part 5 of 8
The fifth installment in Conan: The Frazetta Cover Series features both Frank Frazetta's tense, dramatic Man-Ape painting and an adaptation of Robert E. Howard's "Rogues in the House"-as interpreted by Timothy Truman, artists Cary Nord and Tomás Giorello, and colorist Richard Isanove. A longtime Howard favorite, this seminal Conan story first appeared in Weird Tales in 1934, and Frazetta's Man-Ape piece is one of his few Conan paintings to make a direct reference to one of Howard's works.

Our favorite barbarian has been living as a thief for some time, and his crimes are catching up with him. Becoming enmeshed in the plans of a treacherous nobleman and a dark priest, Conan finds himself making some strange allies in order to free himself from the labyrinthine, booby-trapped halls in the Red Priest's stronghold. Stalked by a mysterious, hulking horror that's grown out of control, Conan and the nobleman make a wary alliance with the Red Priest himself!

THUN'DA, KING OF THE CONGO ARCHIVES HC

    Publisher:
    Archie Comics
    Writers: Frank Frazetta, Gardner Fox
    Pencils: Frank Frazetta, Bob Powell

Frank Frazetta is widely renowned as one of the greatest fantasy illustrators of all time. But he didn't hone his skills in study at the fabled galleries of Paris or Milan; his legendary talents flourished as he worked for hire during the Golden Age of comics!

In the early 1950s, Frazetta set up shop at bustling comics publisher Magazine Enterprises, contributing beautiful cover illustrations and comics pages. There, he also created his first mighty adventurer: the lost-world-jungle hero Thun'da! Though Frazetta left Magazine Enterprises shortly after the first issue of Thun'da was released, and the series was ultimately short lived despite the talented care of collaborators Gardner Fox and Bob Powell, to this day the Thun'da, King of the Congo comics series is held in high regard both as an exciting adventure title and as the only comics series ever to include a cover-to-cover, all-Frazetta issue!

    * Collecting all six issues of Thun'da, King of the Congo, as well as the Thun'da backup stories that appeared in Cave Girl and Africa: Thrilling Land of Mystery.

Featuring art by golden age greats Frank Frazetta, Gardner Fox, and Bob Powell!

Meanwhile, Boss Bakuchi, shamed by his inability to avenge his son's death, doubles the bounty on the killer-Inazuma. The money brings out scores of bounty hunters, unaware that they are merely a flock of sparrows intent on bringing down an eagle.
