    Writer: Mark Smylie
    Interior Artist: Mark Smylie
    Cover Artist: Mark Smylie

    Part 1 of 6
The Calm Before. Artesia---queen, warlord, and witch---has led her armies from their homes in the mountains down into the Middle Kingdoms to aid their erstwhile neighbors in a war against a common enemy: an ancient Empire returned to enforce its historic claim to the lowlands. Following up on the last Artesia book, Artesia Afire, and the release of the Artesia: Adventures in the Known World roleplaying game, this series finds Artesia and her armies trapped in an odd stalemate at the city of Abenton, guests of the city’s ruler, Elizabeta, a baroness with a dark secret. The imminent arrival of barbarian enemies at their gates is only the least of her problems, as recalcitrant allies, mutinous captains, angry ghosts and spirits, lurking assassins, and jealous lovers begin to spring their traps and plots.

Also: a "Founding Fathers Funnies" entry recounting the too-short life of the unjustly obscure war hero and radical John Laurens.

    JU-ON: VOLUME 2

    Publisher:
    Dark Horse Comics
    Writer: Takashi Shimizu
    Adapted: Meimu
    Interior Artist: Takashi Shimizu
    Cover Artist: Takashi Shimizu

The bloody and vengeful grudge of Ju-On returns in this manga sensation from Japan! The landmark horror film franchise is captured in comics form, opening on a gruesome and tantalizing series of images from an operating room, a lightning storm, gory medical instruments, and a single witness to the scene and whatever lies on the table.

Cut to peaceful scenes of everyday life that are taking place in and around a familiar apartment complex. But what eerie presence sits just below the surface, itching to manifest itself and take out its deep-seated rage on innocents? What could have caused such hatred, and why is the spirit terrorizing again? The chilling answer to these questions is found in the pages of Ju-On Volume 2.

His local Decepticon infiltration unit has broken protocol and gone rogue, and he’s not about to take it lying down. Once he’s got the whys and wherefores, there’ll be due punishment meted out, starting with Skywarp and Blitzwing. What about the Autobots and their human allies? Well, they’re all (wisely) staying well out of harm’s way. All, that is, except for Verity Carlo, who’s set for her own, personal face-to-face with Megatron!

    THE EXPENDABLE ONE GRAPHIC NOVEL

    Publisher:
    Viper Comics
    Writer: Jason M. Burns
    Interior Artist: Bryan Baugh
    Cover Artist: Bryan Baugh

Twigs Dupree was just your average, everyday forgotten townie a few months ago, but things changed for the shaggy headed has-been when he accidentally injected himself with an experimental concoction that gave him the gift of immortality. Now along with his childhood friend Jerry, Twigs wages a war in the suburbs, playing part-time superhero with the help of a police scanner. Things take an unexpected turn however when the sexy Agent Armstrong recruits Twigs for the FBI and asks him to take down a serial killer known as The Animal, a madman who some believe to be a werewolf, but who in reality is the head of a cult that will make David Koresh and his Branch Davidians look like the cast of Sesame Street.

Shoot him in the head and he’ll keep walking. Strangle him with a wire and he’ll keep talking. Send him up against a killer that views entrails as Christmas tinsel and for the first time since he got his powers, Twigs will wish he were dead.
