So, on my way home from work wednesday night, I spotted some faint shimmers in the sky. I immeditaly got out my tripod and my camera and headed up to the hills just above the city, where they were much better visible!

Thus, I give you: Aurora Borealis :D

All taken on my fab new EOS 400D camera (and yes it was very VERY cold that night!) :p

    Enjoy!

You've got a fantastic camera to be able to pick up stuff like that.

That's so wild. I'd love to see the Northern Lights someday, no matter which country I do it in.

    Nice photos :)

I mean that. But from my reference point, it's... nothing. When I was in the army in the northernmost parts of Norway, there were northern lights like a wild inferno covering the entire sky. It created more luminence than a full moon.

Oh dude. I have seen them go absolutely crazy as well, and those were pretty spectacular but that is a bit harder to photograph. ;)

And yes, I was a member of ntfa.net many moons ago....I don't think I've posted there since 2002 though :p

Too bad I live in Ohio, and not Iceland. Man, I'd kill to see the Aurora Borealis. Nice pics, BTW! :thumb

Thats always something I wanted to do before I die, to chill on a hill at the N pole , have a coke or 2 with the fellow bears and check out the lights.

Maybe push a few bear kids in the water and laugh like Will Ferrel

you know what else sounds kewl rolling off your tongue? jell-o, then it hits the floor and goes splat, but stays in one piece because its j-e-l-l-o

Nice pics for sure, Tricky. That's a great example of truth being stranger than fiction...and by strange I mean too amazing to believe without seeing it first hand. Thanks for sharing!

When I was scrolling down the page, I read Peter north gets head lights.

    I'm special.
