That's gorgeous. We've got a small freshwater tank but we must be doing something wrong... we do all the 20% water changes, hoover the gravel, neutralise the water, etc. etc. but our fish keep dying. Don't understand it at all. :(

Oh you have to do stuff, like a gravel vac, with my tank the vac is not heavy or deep. Change filter cartredges every couple weeks and the water change (10 - 20%) per week. I have stocked the Aquarium to help maintain itself. Then different species of fish, require different paramaters. And some species of fish cannot live together. You still have to do a lot. Just you don't have to pull it appart and clean it completely.

Locustreign: I suggest you take a sample of your water to a petstore, petsmart for example. Tell them you want a water test. If you don't already do this. What symptoms are your fish showing? If they get white spots on them, that's ich.

That was my next port of call. We've actually got a fish specialist store literally 5 mins walk from my house so going to do that. The weird thing is that it's not one thing that keeps happening - and it's never whitespot or anything easily identifiable. One had (we think) swim bladder problems, one just stopped being able to open its mouth one day, one... well, it was fine when we went to bed and when we woke up he was dead.

Really weird. But yeah, water test is next call.

Is your tank fully cycled? Sometimes that could be the problem. Other times it's the actual fish.

I thought I would take pics from a different angle, last night. More accurately, the side of the tank that is not against the wall.

Close up shot of under the javamoss driftwood and the end of the log.

Here you can see the rock, the sand, the hygrophilia polysperma rosenvig, a small amazon sword, a few crypt leaves and some rogue java moss bits I am sure to regret sometime in the future.

Looking in the right hand corner, I'd like to point out one of the adorable baby sunburst wag platy. sufice it to say, I need to change my yeast bottle today. I was busy with tomatoes yesterday so I never had the chance.
