http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/23/todays-saltiest-video-forever-blue/ Coming to the US in October. Not sure what gameplay elements it has, if any, but the video strikes a lot of the right notes with me.
The graphics look good, but what about the gameplay. I was at the GameStop tournament for Pokemon D/P and we had to link our DSs and pkmn to the Wii/PBR, and those graphics were the best Wii graphics I've seen yet
If I remember correctly, Endless Ocean is one of those "non-game games". Aka, I think you just explore the ocean. Simple as that. But that said, it does look really really pretty. Kinda interesting too.
Given that I was a marine bio major, am a science teacher and a nature doc addict, I'll be content with just exploring. I just hope there is something to explore, and some way to interact with everything you see. OK, according to this shot: http://www.joystiq.com/gallery/forever-blue-1/299378/ you can at least take pictures ala PilotWings64. Hopefully you can save them to a mem card so that you're not limited to a handful. Also you are supposed to be able to use a customized soundtrack via mem card.
They could very easily make this into a full fledged game. Goals like taking a picture of every animal, conserving your tank, escaping a dangerous area. It wouldn't be too hard to incorporate actual game elements into this.
I think the graphics are good, but not great. An engine like that could really use some nice dynamic lighting, as the diver and animals had the same light source no matter where they were at. Also, the draw distance wasn't all that great. Like I said, good but not great.
If they through a Seaman in there it would be a win. No game = no sale for me, I have the discovery channel on the TV already.
well, there is one thing this game proves, and that is the wii is capable of the same graphics as the 360 and almost ps3.
Not quite. Actually not even a close third. There's nothing on the screen except for a few objects/characters and those look only ok.
You're nuts if you believe that. 360 is on the same level as the PS3 Wii is faaaaaaaaaaaar below that.
So far for all the graphic superiority the PS3 has it has yet to put out a single game that actually interests me. Which is why I'm happily avoiding it while I enjoy my Wii, which though currently lacking in any breakthrough games its self gives me a chance to try all the GC games i missed and at least has the innovative control scheme and Wii sports which has oddly been eating up a great deal more time then I ever though it would.
You know, I actually could see this being used as a teaching tool. Especially if after taking a picture you get to learn information on the animal. Seems like It would be a neat way to teach a class about ocean creatures and the environment. I might give this a rental to see how it is, the graphics do look good.
Would be cool if they did make it a game, and you weren't allowed to be underwater for more than an hour and a half(real time) otherwise you die. Having them doing that would make it so that they can learn to not always play video games.
what the hell are you smoking? and what tv you got? LOL cuz i want some if it makes wii graphics seem that good.
i'm just going by how it looked from the trailer, so to me it looked very good graphicly. and it showed that the wii is capable of graphics close to the 360.
