    Man... just thinking....
    Who remembers Pretenders.....
God. Even as a kid I looked at my Bludgeon and went. 'So...in a series about alien robots I have a skeleton samurai, in ugly yellow armor, it can't transform, and it has even less possibility than G1 toys.......god i love this thing'

I hope the people from Hasbro come to this toy thread. 'Cause I want them hear this.
    "MAKE MORE PRETENDERS!"

I want to see new age Pretenders. The transforming toy inside hopefully would have a 2011 upgrade, and at the very least moving elbows and knees.

But I'd love to have a stupid plastic shells again. Maybe with moving arms and a head that can look left and right. But i don't need much. I just want another Pretender shell.

Would you want Pretender toys to come back? If so what would you want changed/updated. What would you want left the same? Which characters would you want to see updated? (If your answer Bludgeon, write down your second choice as well. We all want'na see Bludgeon again!)

No please. The Shells threw any sense of scale out the window. Pretenders still are awful to make sense of in fiction enough as it is.

No. I had two as a kid (still have them); I hated them then and I hate them now.

Universe Bludgeon is frankly the closest we should ever back get to pretender shells in the future. Having the same alt-mode, but a bot mode that resembles the shell.

I have grown to love my G1 Pretenders. Especially when all displayed together in a group. But I would rather not see the shells make a comeback. They have their appeal in a vintage setting, but not so much in the modern one.

I'm all for the current updating style we're getting, but I don't think the shells would work at all these days.

I gotta throw my 2cents in and say I would love to see pretenders return only as robot tho with alt modes, especially Cheech Marin-atron,he was a cool looking pretender shell back in the day.Long Live Pretenders.

    I totally agree here.

I would however say that I think the things that aprim has been doing with some of the Pretenders in Radicons would be relevant. Josh [Burcham] and I were talking one night about the idea of larger mech suits as updates for the shells. I'd like to see something like that too.

I'd be perfectly content with things like RotF Bludgeon, Generations Skullgrin, and Generations Thunderhawk though :)

Mass shifting solves the scale problem in fiction - they start as a normal sized human and then when they go into robot form they grow to Transformer size.

For a non-mass-shift alternative, Pretender Alice from Revenge of the Fallen. Or alternately, 2m high robots who're only slightly bigger than normal humans.

That being said, the real appeal were the Decepticons who got to be all sorts of monsters and demons. I'd love a set of them, even if the concept was revived strictly as Mega-Pretenders with Mini-Con partners for the inner robots.

Powered armour? That'd be cool, kind of like what IDW did in the Revelations arc for Cloudburst and the gang.

I believe in mass shifting unreservedly for the purposes of the Transformers universe. I would buy pretenders so long as they are an improvement on what G1 did. This would be easy because all that would need to happen is put in an elbow and hip joint.

It is all these weird ass things that got thrown together in G1 that make it great.

I loved Pretenders, but didn't appreciate the human ones until I saw how Masterforce did it.

I'd like to see some third party make Pretender shells and Action Master partners for Classics Bumblebee, Jazz, Grimlock, and Starscream.

I'd like to see some more modern takes on Pretenders, similar to how Bludgeon, Skullgrin and Thunderwing have.

My votes for updates go to Longtooth and Stranglehold.

No matter what, I still can't get behind the idea of the human characters. I only like the G1 toys and that's simply for what they are.

I prefer the way they have done it so far when doing new toys of those characters. making the robot mode take cues from the g1 toys shell but ignoring the organic looking parts.
I really love the new Thunderwing (wish he was taller though) and Skullgrin.

I would be ecstatic for Octopunch and Stranglehold to join Bludgeons update :)
A new Longtooth would also be awesome.

The shells never made any sense to me. I personally LOVE the more IDW-ish take on pretenders, where the "shell" is actually integrated into the robot mode. That's why I LOVE what they've been doing with the toys. ROTF Bludgeon and Generations Skullgrin and Thunderwing are the perfect update to the pretenders IMHO.

Well as some people have pointed out. Ya...NO human Pretenders. When I think of Pretenders I think of skullgrin, finback, bombrust...monsters.

The was a picture that Dream-wave did. Of Starscream in his 'shell'. But the head was Starscream's robot head wearing the pretenders helmet, and his jet wing stickin' out the back. It was pretty kick ass looking. (Wish i could find it on the interwebs).
