here is my biggest project to date. its my rendition of the chrome prime that was given away from a contest a few years back. its almost complete, i just need to do some minor touch ups and install new smoke stacks. i completely took this figure apart down to the little gears and springs. trust me, it was no fun putting this thing back together. i'll update with more pics later when this thing is complete.

i've included a couple of shots with all the figures that ive done so far.. enjoy :)

I love all of your chrome work it is just stunning.

I kinda wish you could've made his sword orange but other than that it is very awesome. All of your work is great.

That is so absolytely beautiful! Wow! Have you done the symbols too? Those look machine chromed.

To up the challenge for you some more: You could try to fill up all the seemlines in various parts. Sand them down and get some very nice details instead of the ugly seem line running straight through your artwork.

thanks for all the positive comments. for the premium prime, i used a different paint instead of alclad. this time i used the alsa brand. the alsa brand is WAY more expensive but i do have to say that it does shine better than alclad.

havent talked to greg yet but i will soon. after completing this prime i dont know if i want to give this one up :redface2:  i have a few more projects in the works and one of them will definately be offered.

thanks! nope, the symbols were purchased from ebay. but after reading that thread on how to make your own stand, i just may start making my own :thumb

thanks sabrina! just remember, i was totally inspired by your work  . as for the chrome, thinned testors clear seems to work well for me. kind of a double edge sword though.. not thin enough = mute finish, too thin = not enough protection. i suggest practicing on a few pieces and noting the ratio when you are satisfied.

see my comment to sabrina above :)

So if this alsa is better, is it more durable also? And where can 1 find it?

in my opinion, alsa is better. duribility depends on how well you prep the part, how often you handle the part, and how well you clear coat it. ive experienced issues with alclad where it would rub off fairly easily with just the slightest touch. you can read more info on alsa by clicking the link below. i believe there is also a link to the price list. a 4oz bottle of chrome will run you roughly $80.

OOh. Alsa eh. I remember now. I came across it sometime back but was unable to try it due to the high price tags. Even so, I was very very tempted to try their "Pilot Dual Tip chroming gun". Hahahaha. But well, I'm glad you've had a lot of success with it.
