No where near as exciting as Iron hide in my opinion because this doesnt feel so much as a repaint of blackout. Though more detailed it just doesnt feel more accurate to me. I tihnk the original has to much black and on the premium the main color is too dark. The tail markings and scorponok look good though

Yeah, I don't think either of the Blackouts we got were all that movie accurate. I think that's why I love Evac so much. Without an actual move model to try and emulate, I can enjoy him for all the fun he is, without looking at him and going "Man, you looked WAY cooler in the movie."

Even though he isn't movie accuratetastic, I still plan on getting him, he still looks pretty danged nice for only $20 more. If anything, he looks more like the Robot Heroes Blackout with that color scheme IMO.

Hmmm, I bought Premium Blackout tonight, but now I'm not sure I want to open him...not digging the peachy-tan limbs AT ALL...

Any chance of getting pics of a side by side comparison between Premium and Normal Blackout in copter mode?

i picked up ironhide last week and got blackout today.I must say he looks better than i thought.compared to movie blackout he looks loads better.I expecially like the paint job on him,its almost like a matte finish. Not a lot of shine to him but the blue/grey paint fits nicely.and scorpy is way better now with the new paintjob.

i recommend him over movie blackout anyday.

I got premium Blackout today, and am also pleasantly surprised. The copter mode is quite sinister and striking, as I expected, but the robot mode is quite nice also. I expected I would like the black details of the original Blackout far more, but it's actually quite close to equal in my opinion. For the record, the lighter parts are NOT pink/tan/beige (to my eye at least), but a rather neutral gray (maybe a very slight reddish tint, but it's the bluish tint of the dark gray that makes the lighter bits look more beige-y, especially in photos.

Originally I planned to swap parts between Blackouts, but now I'm not so sure. I may experiment a bit to see what comes out best.

One thing I will say - in the grand scheme of TF movie toys, Blackout has a pretty crappy head, in any paint scheme. Just looks too much like a chewed up raisin. Evac wins fully in that area.

I will probably pick one up to keep MISB for display, since I only really like the vehicle mode's paintjob for Premium Blackout. I just don't like the grey instead of black (or at least dark grey) in robot mode. The vehicle mode's darker paint scheme and weathering effects look very nice, though.

Preemie Blackout's definitely got a sweet-lookin' vehicle mode.

I originally planned to get one and swap out the light gray bits for the black parts on original Blackout, but changed my mind. I have done some experimenting in the part-swapping arena though. I'm not shooting for movie-accuracy, but instead trying to give a little extra visual interest while keeping copter mode the same. I also put a little metallic paint on the head/face to give it a bit more sense of shape.

Bettter... or worse? Better.... or worse?

(Original Blackout (on the right) has loose elbows now, but the joints are good on both otherwise.)

Just curious to know if anyone has compared the Premium Blackout to the Lawson Blackout yet?

Paint, Head, Look in general Evac wins hands down. I knew before I ever saw the blackout toy that Hasbro wouldn't be able to match the movie version's awesomeness. Main reason I never picked it up.

After taking a look at the promo images of Blackout (the CGI robot) I've got a better understanding of why the toy is not all that movie-accurate. Blackout is almost completely all the same gray color. It looks impressive given the scale, lighting, and detail level from the movie, but with the size and plastic of a voyager toy, an accurate toy would be stunning in it's boringness. I support Hasbro's attempt to add some visual variety to the robot mode without completely throwing away the movie colors.

    Premium Blackout vs. Lawson Blackout

Here is a comparison between the two similar but different Blackouts. Since I own and opened both versions, I can describe the differences first hand. I also took many pics detailing both of them. At first glance, Premium Blackout and Lawson Blackout appear the same. However, looking at them a little longer will indicate a big difference: Premium has a smooth glossy finish wheras Lawson sports a rough matte finish. Premium is to the left and Lawson is on the right.

There is a big difference in the mini Scorponok deco. Premium has a higher contrast with whole colors in gold and black whereas Lawson sports a "dirtier battle damaged" look with lighter colors with splotches of black. Premium is on the left and Lawson on the right.

The quality of Lawson is far superior, Not only does it look better, but the joints are much tighter. My Premium had a problem with the automorph gears on the chest. I took it apart and adjusted it to fix it. Also, Lawson's Scroponok is made of softer plastic than Premium or original. I am able to bend the pincers on Lawson Blackout where the others cannot budge. This makes the tail softer and more flexible too.

Lastly, there is one mold difference that I found among all three Voyager Blackouts. In the picture below, I have circled the place where are different imprinted (or stamped) letters. The original has the letter "A" (upside down), Lawson has the letter "D", and Premium has the letters "DZ" (where the Z is smaller than D).
