I pre-ordered tickets for the July 2nd, 8:00PM show at www.fandango.com . I'm not sure if they are available everywhere yet. But it wouldn't hurt to check.

Only nearest place to SF on July 2nd is Oakland... so not going to see a movie there!

Atlanta's up, at several theaters. I'll wait 'til after the BotCon showing to see how excited I am about it, though.

Nope. Sioux Falls area is saying "first showing on July 3rd" and "no tickets available." So either our theater hasn't updated yet, or they're already sold out. And since I've been checking availability every day since the beginning of June, I'm guessing we haven't updated yet.

Threw my name into their alert system. Hopefully that way I get to know when they go on sale and can buy before they sell out.

Just curious, is there really a need to pre-order tickets for such a movie?

    Yes.

I ended up having to hit the third showing of Episode III because I waited until two weeks before the movie to buy tickets. Not making that mistake with this one.

We don't have to kind of problems here. You just show up and you're in.

For opening day on a big-ticket summer blockbuster? We don't have that problem any day past opening day, but big name movies create huge lines. Star Wars was sold out for almost a week, with people lining up up to two hours in advance for the first five days or so to get a good seat even with tickets already in hand.

Granted, we're in a weird location. The only "big city" for miles and miles in all directions, so opening days tend to get HUGE crowds. Way more than what the theater can really handle.
