As for the Energon powerlink figures who are the best top halves and who are the best bottom halves?
Best~ I like prime be top and rodimus or hotshot be bottom
Prowl = yes.
He doesn't combine too well with himself, though.
Roadblock makes a great top half. Rodimus makes a good bottom half. Hot Shot is a better bottom than top, but he's not that great - same with Downshift. Tow-line... is obvious if you have him. Like I said above, Prowl is actually good either way because of the way his legs work. I think that runs through the list of deluxes I have.
As far as the Megas... Ironhide and Jetfire combine with each other great. Throw Cliffjumper in there and... Not QUITE the case. Right now, I think I have Cliffjumper on top of Ironhide and it looks pretty OK. Look up the figures on tfu.info - there's good pictures there.
Inferno or Roadblock are actually pretty solid as pants, as well. Not much extra kibble.
Energon Prowl on top.
Energon Inferno as the pants.
Is it weird that I own a lot of Energon toys and have never powerlinked any of them?
Hmm.... Off the top of my head
Roadblock/ inferno - great top with over the head cannons. Pants mode is clean but no posibility
Hotshot - bad top with tiny head giant forearms, solid bottom with good motion but long torso
Prowl - works well for either but has skinny legs when a bottom, kibbl looks like a flight pack when on top
Rodimus - huge arm make for bad top but big feet in pants mode, lots of back kibble
Downshift - is forgetfull in both modes
Towline - only works as a top
Optimus - horrible in both modes
Alot of good info!
I haven't tried a lot myself. Though as has been pointed out, Inferno makes good pants, if you disregard the robot head hanging on the bottom.
Here's a good example;
Roadblock and Inferno, being essentially the same mold look reallygood together.
In general Roadblock looks good asa top or bottom in my opinion.
I like Rodimus/Checkpoint as a bottom as well.
This is my favorite, Downshift and Rodimus. (He's a little dusty.)
