I have a feeling that the combination of clear plastic + sharpie ink is going to eventually cause problems of its own, as well.

Not so much, actually. At least, red Sharpie ink on colorless clear plastic doesn't seem to be an issue.

I might paint them I did wonder about painting the underside but then I realised if I underpainted them red it would just have purple arms then.

Pretty idiotic design choice mind its serves no real function other than to make the robot mode less screen accurate than it would otherwise be.

    What pic?

Regardless, thanks for the warning. I hope this teaches people that sharpies are not a good paint replacement.

His advice seems to say something about screwing the arm back too hard and shattering the transparent plastic however, not about the effect of sharpies.

    Pictures would help.

I did this a few weeks ago. I used a red sharpie on his arms and it turned out very nice.

I went with paint on mine...

Red on the forearms, metallic blue for everything blue, and added silver apps...I also reversed the shoulders so the screw holes were facing the rear.
I couldn't be more happy with 'Prime.

The sharpie on the forearms took less than 5 minutes. I didn't even take the arms apart. For an untalented non-radicon like me it's an easy solution.

Looks great! Paint > Sharpie. I've tried Sharpie on plastic several times and I always regret it. It's not really made for that.

I was wondering about that. It looks real nice. Does it affect the transformation at all?

It's so nice to see someone do this properly instead of scribbling all over the thing with markers.
