Power Rangers: Special/Collector Edition Black & Gold Megazord

Since I keep seeing people talk about Power Rangers on here...

I have a Special/Collector Edition Black & Gold Megazord set for whatever reason, and just wanted to know if it's worth anything? All the figures & accessories are essentially mint condition since I never played with this thing, but the box for the set is in pretty rough shape after years of storage and numerous moves. Has some stickers still on the sticker sheet and includes instruction sheet.

I imagine I only picked this up because it had 5 figures that combined into a big robot and was black & gold. Must easily be about or over 10 years old by now.

Anyway, if anyone knows anything about this, please let me know.

    Edited to add some pics:

Er, pictures would help and I assume that this set is a Japanese release?

Holy shit is right. After doing some quick research on this thing, I guess it's an extremely rare Season 1 deluxe boxset that came out in '94, and seems to go for between $200-$400 on places like eBay.

Huh. Looks like it might be worth trying to auction this puppy off. Never thought for a second that anything to do with PR could go for that much.

No, it's a North American release. Hence the all-English box and the "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers" logo.

Here's the deal on this baby.

Sentai, the Japanese series that Power Rangers is made from, does this every year for their robots. There's a repaint of at least the main one at some point. Generally it's black and gold. There are a few exceptions, however. Abaranger for instance, did green versions of the two combined robots for the series, Abarenoh, and Killeroh. The current series, Boukenger, did some "real style" versions (yellow and black w/ yellow and black striped stickers) of some of the vehicles that were based on construction equipment.

That one right there is the only one that was ever done for Power Rangers. For some reason or another, they never did it with any of the others. Most likely due to poor sales. Anyway, because of that, it's pretty damn rare by this point.

I got mine for $25, but mine is missing the horns for the Triceratops, the little guns, and the extra sticker sheet.

Grr... I saw that set as a kid and I already had the first Megazord, and my dad refused to get that one because it was the same toy... The fool!

Now that is RARE! I've never seen it in stores before...its interesting that BOA did indeed release a varient.

Gryph - yeah, suprisingly Bandai did not give the varient black colour scheme varient to the Abarangers but then again, dinosaurs being "green" makes sense to a certain extent.

Omegus Prime - don't be so harsh on your dad...to most adults it doesn't make economic sense to get the same thing - be it toys or otherwise.

Well I'm certainly glad I looked into this. I was going to give it away since I didn't think anyone would want a Power Rangers set, let alone actually pay so much for it.

Hehe, I'm stilling trying to remember where I even bought this thing. Must have been purely on a whim.

Heh, just making a joke about it, wasn't actually harsh on him... If I went around pointing at people and shouting "you fool!" I'd look like a saturday morning cartoon villain.

The item, in its condition, is worth anywhere from $35-$50 US. I've seen sealed versions go for $60+. I just bought mine, sealed, for $68 US.

I won't tell that to the guy who just offered me $250 USD for it :)  He said he would have offered $350 USD if the box was also mint since that's around "the going rate" according to him and his collector friends. Guess it all depends on how badly someone wants something and whether or not they feel like hunting for deals.

I guess that just answers the age-old generic question, "Is it worth it?" LOL! IMHO, its always how badly the other person wants it.

Omegus Prime - I got what you mean, I just couldn't help but smiled at your comment...they were kinda of funny! :D
