I've always thought that Lord Zedd could've been an awesome villian, but he never quite lived up to his potential. I mean, look at the guy! He's all exposed muscle and a metallic skeleton on the outside! I never owned a Lord Zedd figure until I acquired one a few months ago as part of a trade with another board member in our Junkion Excange. When I got the guy I thought that he was pretty weak looking and vowed that I would one day repaint him into something that I thought would fit what the character could be. In the before picture, you can see that he is primary color is a Play-Doh red which I absolutely hated. I painted him a deeper red and drybrushed his skeleton with silver to give him a grittier look. I figured that he probably wouldn't be pristine after all of the battles that he had with the Rangers, so he should look a little battle-worn. I also gave him blue veins and some purple coloring for the crevices of the brain. He was finished with a satin clear-coat for the skeleton and a gloss coat for the muscles and brain to give them a sort of juicy look. An interesting thing about this figure is that he also has a light up feature that allowed the entire upper torso to light up in the front. I painted the inside of the chest to allow light to only show in the middle as seen in the last picture. He took a lot longer than I though for such a simple figure (I spent about 5-6 hour total), but he is well worth it and I know he'll be in the collection for quite a while!
