I know there are quite a few PR fans here, and most of you should be eagerly anticipating the release of Operation Overdrive's new Megazord.

Well, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but this year's Megazord SUCKS.

    Here's an image-

The problem here? DaiBouken (the Japanese counterpart that new mold on teh right is based upon) is actually about 3 inches SHORTER than the Titan Megazord also pictured. BOA has, for some reason, enlarged the Megazord- jeopardizing the combination gimmick and IMO totally destroying its appeal.

How does the enlargement hinder the combination? Were only certain parts enlarged instead of just making everything bigger?

Ouch! That hurts! Kidding...on a more serious note are there any notable difference between SPD toys and its Japanese counterpart Dekarangers?

And yeah, the main zord for operation overdesign is er, not "eye candy" that's why I gave him a miss.

But check out this bot...I believe he's from the Japanese version of the Operation OD.

That's DaiVoyager. No US name yet, or even a confirmed US release.

Since the size has been increased, the connector ports have been altered (meaning the US and Japanese versions are not backwards-compatible). Furthermore, its been established that the Pink & Yellow Zords cannot be "stored" within the Red Zord's legs like they can in the Japanese version, meaning they have to be set aside during any of the combination sequences with the other zords!

Man, that's bad news indeed! Why would Bandai US do that? Looks like I have to seriously consider the Japanese version.

wait, pink/yellow can't sit on top of the back of the red zord? geez, that really blows. I know they took out a lot of the paint apps, but increasing the size and not being consistent really sucks.

I'm suprised that BOA would make resize the main Zord as it would cost to recast the mold etc. Anyone know the reason behind the resize? To differentiate between make US and Japanese versions?

I'm guessing, purely speculation here, that Bandai wanted to make the main Zord bigger. It's a selling point, if they can sell a bigger toy they can get away with charging more as you're getting more for your money, supposedly.

Good point...if I remember correctly, this is the first PR toy that BOA has actually resized! So I'm kind of stumped by the move...I was also holding out on the Japanese version too in the hopes that the US version would be similar.

Indeed he is, I would have grabbed him last week but I realised that he doesn't have "fists" to hold any weapons but other then that, the design is good. In fact, I'm thinking of going into the line solely because of him.
