I'm not the hugest fan of Power rangers, but I sure hope they don't just make it Mighty Morphin' remember the 90's-only 90's kids remember-rangers: the movie. I'm also hoping they don't make it the usual, oh-so edgy movie that people always seem to make on their own on youtube, cause the tone and feel of the Dark Knight and Power rangers go hand in hand.

It's Saban. The movie is going to be made with a bunch of footage from the recent Super Sentai series with horrible dubbing from the cheapest "actors" they can dredge out of New Zealand community theaters.

I think you're expecting too much from them.

By the by, the fact that it's being made by the one movie studio that makes nothing but movies based on books about teenagers getting up to wacky hi-jinks, it's like a horrible match made in heaven.

You give it a semi-decent budget and I'll watch it for some good looking Megazord fights.

Thought: if it's a reboot, why not just make this the Green with Evil saga? Like that makes sense.

    Just some advice for Saban:

PLEASE don't let Michael Bay direct this! He's already ruined enough of my childhood.

I'm all for this. Somebody also better hire Michael Bay for this. I'd love it if he put his twist on Power Rangers. Why not, right?

This is like the perfect Michael Bay franchise.

Shitty acting, giant robots, completely unnecessary explosions, hot female leads. I mean PR is like a Michael Bay show already.

Count me in. If this was just Saban I would be worried, but with Lionsgate involved there is some real potential in this turning out well. Especially if they get a decent budget behind it. The fact they're specifically mentioning MMPR has me excited too. That show was a big part of my childhood.

    NO.

He's done enough putting his influence in Transformers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. If he gets involved with Power Rangers, I'm probably going to do something drastic.

And none of those fit his style and hence didn't work.

PR is his style. It's perfect.

He's perfect for Power Rangers. Explosions, hot chicks, pointless story. BOOM. The only drastic thing you can possibly do is enjoy the Michael Bay Power Rangers franchise :rock

I wouldn't want him to direct, but I would be ok with Bay producing. What little influence he's had on the new TMNT movie hasn't been bad, so I feel a similar amount of influence would work here. I feel like making him the director would be giving him too much control over stuff he's horrible at doing.

    Yes.

Bay needs to "share the love" and move onto some of the mid-'90s properties...

Plus, Power Rangers would be perfect for his Humans > Robots mentality.

Can't be worse than the 'enhanced' version of PR that Disney made some time back, which was literally nothing but the exact same episodes with just Adam West Batman-style "POW!" "BONK!" "WHAM!" comic book sound effect balloons in the fight scenes.

    Go Go Power Rangers!

Well, this should be nice. It can't be too difficult to make this work, what with PACIFIC RIM having done fairly much a similar premise: a task force of soldiers fighting monsters from another realm with the aid of special tech (armours, weaponry and of course robots).

I must admit, I enjoyed MMPR for only two things: the Zords (giant robots), and the villains, who were deliciously campy like they were Adam West's drinking mates or something: Lord Zedd, Rita Repulsa and Goldar. I hope they can keep the villains comical enough to be likable.

But let's not fool ourselves, remember Saban handled the Robots in Disguise series. You can see shades of Power Rangers in that show. I doubt this film will be any different in tone, thus it may be something like a Guillermo del Toro-Robert Rodriguez mix, ie a CGI fest with a lot of cool and awesome but nothing too deep.

Anyway, we have to wait and see how this works out.
