So my Power was out from Last Friday up till Tuesday due to a freak storm.

It started right as I left work(10:45) and my Dad decided to drive through it.

we couldn't get on base till 2:30 AM due to some Civilians blocking the

only way in/off base at that time due to a tree falling on a car... We were

    Mad.

We ended up driving around in circles trying all the back ways with failure,

then my dad was gonna power through the irritating Blockade (I was looking forward for this) But was thwarted by the Military Police coming out and opening another Gate...

The base was a mess, branches everywhere. Power was out Post wide.

We then saw a large tree right in the middle of a major byway near our house.. we had to turn around and go the other way.

it was 100 degrees all those days.......

    Anyone else have blackout stories

    No.

My part of the country has measures in store to restore power momentarily after a blackout. That, and heat doesn't bother us. We have the power necessary to have everyone running AC.

My grill got blown over. That's all that happened to us.

And I live just down the street from Ft. Belvoir.

Reading everything about NoVA I have no idea what they're talking about as not a single thing happened to us.

Lets see... My family Lost power for almost an entire week. From 5:30 PM Friday June 30th 2012 to About 9:15 PM July 5th 2012 My Family was without power in ninety degree heat.
I skipped work last saturday to help with Cleanup since I'm the only guy in our household whose capable of helping.
We had about 2 or 3 Trees down in our yard. One was Just blocking the doorway (Just barely enough to be a Hindrance, Easily fixed by snapping the limbs back), while another two pretty much flattened our fences... and just about every single neighbor around here has dogs.

The power went out last night, actually. I'm not sure what happened, but it was pretty hot out. I was creepy too because my friend's room is in the basement, so we had to walk all the way upstairs in the dark.

I live north of where the storms hit, so I wasn't affected this year, but my area has been rather blackout-prone in the past. Last summer, we lost power several times, once for about 24 hours.

I didn't mention that my place of work (A grocery Store) was out of power until early Monday morning. That was fun on Sunday. about a half hour before my shift was supposed to start, our Generator crapped out and the entire store was in the dark till they could fix the problem (Our Generator is very very old[Older than the Transformers Brand], barely capable of keeping the store on its feet). I tried putting product back on the shelf... in the dark. Lemme tell ya, that was not fun.

I'm in Upper Marlboro MD and our power was out from Friday night to late afternoon Saturday. So about 40 hours no power. But we have a pool so during the day we could beat the heat. I was more concerned about my dogs. They will not go in the pool.

Thankfully here in TN, the heat we can handle..at least electrically. Usually the only time I have prolonged power outages is when a dump truck wrecks and takes out a few electrical wires and poles. The last time was around 8 hrs b4 we came back up...and lost 2 fridges of frozen goodies..thankfully it was late fall...but still in the 90's or so outside. It's a good time to sit and chat with your neighbors...or go find a business that has power and hang out.

I remember the blackout caused by the 98 ice storm. The tree infront of my house snapped in half and the tree in my back yard split like a bannana. Power lines were down. Water was over flowing the sewers and freezing. It was wicked.

My neighborhood in NoVa had no power from Firday night through late Saturday night. Nearly all our freezer food went bad; refrigerated stuff was saved with a crapload of ice. I work up in Silver Spring, Maryland over the summers; as of Friday afternoon there's still quite a bit of traffic lights and neighborhoods without power, and enough trees lying around to make it look like a tornado passed by.

I usually don't mind the heat. But I was working outside all last weekend helping my dad and brother cut down a few trees that were badly damaged in the storm...in upper 90's heat with a high humidity index. Coming back inside without air conditioning sucked.
