...and yet trypticon was such a letdown in that regard: a portent of things to come?..

Guys get over the price increase, these have more moving parts than CW deluxes.

Feel free to complain about voyager and leader stickers though.

Ok, you know what? You are right, we should have seen this coming. Hell, I did pay 20 bucks for a deluxe but that's because it was at a speciality store and it would have months before Twin twist would have shown up at a Target or Walmart. Now if it's about to be that way across the board, then, yeah, I may go with Takara for these guys, (and Computron if I can find the Tech'bots:D ) and call it for awhile on collecting.

I have feeling I may double dip a little especially since these deluxes are so well done.

They have matching hands as well. The only thing Takara can improve on is Hun-gurrr

2 things that stand out the most to me would be bigger front limbs and wider jaws (cuz as it stands they look too small as feet)

I wouldn't mind a slightly bigger backpack if it meant better front legs, and the heads/feet definitely need to be a bit wider.

I don't mind the price increase. For one, it makes the price drop easier for stores. (TLK voyagers at Walmart are now about 26 dollars for example)

    Also, more TRU sales.

The thing with Takara is right now those prices are *also* trending upward.

Superion and Menasor were $140 before shipping.
Stuff like Lynx Master and Grand Galvatron were $160.
I believe Baldigus got as high as $180.

So you're looking at anything from $25 to $36 per figure. And that's if the prices don't continue to climb once we see what Takara does (or does not do) with these.

Those UW examples are mass releases (Superion and Menasor) versus exclusives (the others you mentioned). So it's not exactly a fair comparison.

I absolutely love my Unique Toys Ordin, but I may go in for these to scale with my UW Computron and other CW Combiners. The deluxes look fantastic (And Rippersnapper has wrist swivels, which even the UT one lacked), but Hungurr looks pretty bad, and I cannot unsee that he is a remold of CW Silverbolt. That is a pretty big letdown, but probably won't stop me from getting him.

    All the Terrorcons look great.

I kind of wish Hungrurr's tail in robot mode was on the back since I like the purple "spikes" as his chest detail but no biggy.

For me, the last time I paid 10 for a deluxe was circa 2011 RTS/Gen figures . The Fall of Cybertron /Gen figures were the first to be charged $15 in my area WM/Target.

IIRC deluxes were generally $10 from 1996 - 2011 so if you think about it, that's quite impressive.

Look at the price increase of comic books, movie tickets and I think we US folks got a fair shake.

YES! That torso for Abominus looks amazing! was worried about the lack of shield to make the chest.
I'm not too sure I'm keen on the Abominus head, it will be cool if his attenae flip out.
I think I'll get the Takara Version for the accurate to cartoon combined mode and the Hasbro one for the individual bots as they are super close.
Going to throw on some G1 style insignias with the silver backs

I'm curious if the rub signs work like the G1 figures and turn dark.

    Really really excited about this.

UW started trending more towards "exclusives" than not towards the end.

Does anyone think we'll get the original Cutthroat head (from the renders) off Takara? Love these figures, but Cutthroat having Wildfly's head is the only thing that's really bothering me here... It looks like Wildfly is cosplaying :D

yes...Tak is G1 slavish and have always been willing to spend a few extra cents to keep collectors happy (Computron for example)

Let's hope that Trypticon was not a sign of things to come.

I'd like to see the Terrorcons repainted into some of the colors that the Prime Terrorcons have been repainted into.

eh, any improvement Takara could have made would have been minimal

I disagree. They could have added way more paint apps (instead of the shitty quality decals) as well as Brunt.
