There's nothing to be angry about at the moment mate. We know absolutely zero about this line. In reality, you should be delighted that Primal's name has been put forward as a contender.

You would think I would be, wouldn't you. But in all honesty I'm not.

 

Put your feelings towards IDW aside for the moment and just think of the possibility of having two new S1 Optimus Primal figures in the space of 18 months. That's an exciting prospect, right?

 

The thing about Optimus Primal is, he's not in the series yet at all.

Thirty years ago, I was a little unsettled when this brand-new character I'd never met before went from zero to Chosen One in an hour and a half.

I fear if Primal wins the vote, it's going to feel like a very deus ex machina story.

I need to feel like he's earned the right, not that it's been bestowed upon him by story demands or worse, fan whims. He needs a character arc. Show, don't tell, and so forth.

 

Time is on his side. POTP won't come out until late 2017 at the earliest, so there is time to write him in.

 

But we'll learn the winner of the vote at Toy Fair in February. If it's Primal, every step he takes in the series will be in service to this stunt-driven, fan-driven result. Now, I have a lot of faith in Barber and Roberts, if anybody can pull it off, they can, but... if I pick up March's comics, and here's Primal getting introduced, and I already know where he's going to end up in six months or so... I'm starting to think it would be better if Hasbro kept the vote result secret until HasCon. I mean, talk about a spoiler.

 

It's a good point. We just have to put our faith in the writers to make the journey enjoyable.

 

Not when deathsaurus hasn't had a toy since victory and is a prominent character in the idw currently, also is a g1 beast.

 

To a guy whose name is Beastwarsfan95, a new Optimus Primal probably should be an exciting prospect.

Deathsaurus was just released as part of Liokaiser in Combiner Wars, however, I'd still like to see him get a stand alone figure. I think he'd have great retool potential for someone like G1 Grimlock.

 

I Magnus wins, we'll come Full Circle.......he was picked by Optimus and for the want of reflexes would have been able to use the Matrix had he caught it first (would he had wasted it on the Heralds, or would he know that Unicron was the bigger threat?) and had 30 Years of "can't deal with it now " jokes......now he has a chance to rectify earlier mistakes.


Also, if he wins, who would be his Opposite Number in the Decepticons? (I know the war is over in IDW, but in the toy line itself the war rages on. ). Sixshot maybe?

 

All I know is , is if Arcee wins , I`m going to loose my mind . I`m all for girl power , but I honestly just want a Con to win for once ....  

 

Yeah, I'd like that. I have been thinking about getting Energon Rodimus a few times. Also that design can be easily remolded into Nova Prime, as Don based it on Energon Rodimus.

I want the 13 (though I'll probably be happy with TR Alpha Trion), a proper Leader Rodimus Prime, Dai Atlas and Star Saber. Also. throw in Nova and Zeta Primes and, of course, THUNDERCLASH!

Give us more of the Beasts and the rest of the Dinobots, as well.

 

No it's not. The last time Hasbro did an "Optimus Primal" figure, it was a Beast Machines toy, released under the RiD line and painted like Optimus Prime.

The original Ultra figure is still great, any redo with current plastic standards would just be a downgrade.

 

Well we do have rumors of a Leader class Deathsaurus coming in TR so I think we'll see him one way or another. Also since he,Sky shadow and Liokaiser have gotten Generation figures in some manner. I think we may see the Victory Autobots like Star Saber and the rumored Landcross coming soon after.

So if Primal gets the exact same story arc without there being a poll it would be allright?
Primal was just the commander of an exploration vessel in over his head for the best part of at least one season of BW, he had quite a bit of character exploration and evolution before he became Cybertrons greatest hero.
And i doubt he'll become Prime in the first issue he appears in.
Some things are only a corporate hijack if you let them be.
+ Its a fictional character, he cant earn anything. All his actions are written for him, just like any other character. And they all do things because of story demands.

 

I hate to pull a "Geewunner" move here, but that thing ain't Deathsaurus no matter how many times the toy's packaging claims it to be.
