I like the "targetmaster" scouts. I'm not so keen on the tiny combiners (although that bombshock is pretty nice looking).
I watched the same review and the only reason it was falling apart was because the idiot didn't even have it transformed right. He never pegged in the shoulders, so obviously it's not going to stay together. If you're going to do a review at least know what you're doing before you give your opinion. What a putz.
I saw that review too. Thing is, the shoulders were pegged in in the pictures he had at the end of the review. I'm not too sure about the Aerialbots pack just yet. I might get a few more two packs before I get him.
I'm thinking they sensed the backlash that would occur hense the 2 packs. I think they know kids will buy the sets for the combining gimmick. And that people that have a problem with it will buy the set for the core figure. I am wondering how long it will be before people are hacking up micromasters and such to make new limbs. Some of the cores remind me of Cybertron figures for some reason as well.
i feel that with all the limbs that will be made available it will be possible, through trial and error, to make 1 decent looking combiner. i will be buying the combaticons as soon as i see them though.
I disliked them at first, and then picked up the two I thought would go well with my multi-line squad I'm building up. Smolder and Huffer really won me over. I really like the core scouts. The minicons are ok, but honestly for $10 these guys offer so much play value. A vehicle mode, a Robot mode, a Super Robot mode, and a minicon on top of that with three different modes. These are just scouts that are extremely tiny in vehicle mode, which is crazy. Sure there are a few duds, and the Super Robots aren't too great unless you get the right limbs, but they're like a better looking Energon Prime. They may not be the best toys, but they're so much fun to mess with.
Grabbed backwind and smolder tonight. I am pleased with both. Combined Backwind w/ Searchlight, Energon Scattor, Armada Payload, Armada purple Oceanglide, and Deep Dive. Looks good and actually stands well. If a kid has these, and has armadaverse minicons, I see this getting fun for them quickly. Theres' definitely quirks with the sets (I wish the scouts were deluxes, too small bots, the connector ports show poorly). Smolder's fun too. Need to find a better setup for it.
Hey Man, leave Spada alone. The figure had other problems, too. On another note, I really like most of the other figures.
I only own Smolder, so I can't comment on any combining gimmick or anything. But the 2 pack figures I know are great. Minicon is alright...
Oh you. You know I like weapons...and now I may have to track down more of these guys since I see where you're going with this...
Wow this thread really took off. I keep thinking man I should take these back and get my $20 back but then I realized I got them for 10 with the TRU discount and I like the Core Bots for playability. But they don't go with my Classics line which is my main collection.
They're not pitching themselves to be the return to classic form that combiners used to be in the past... Oh wait, they've really never been that great to begin with. The best I can think of that actually works as a Robot, with other robot modes and other vehicle modes is probably Landfill. The g1 combiners were admittedly a product of their times, but they haven't gotten much better going forward. The energon combiners were pretty cool from the Thighs, and Shoulders inward. Otherwise they've been a pretty shoddy mismatch of good to terrible toys. It's not trying to be this epic, Classics-esque return to form, they're going for a Play Pattern here. They're more or less just as gimmicky as a line as Fast Action Battlers, Activators or Robot Replicas. If you can dig it, fine, if you can't, then leave the people who do alone and let them be. Personally, I think they look pretty fun for what they are, and plan on picking up the Protectobots and Destrons when they drop, as those are the two Scouts I want most. However I want some drones to fiddle with.
I think I am mostly in the same boat as you. If the Dinobot one looks neat, I may have to get it just out of novelty. But for the most part, they really don't do anything for me. Even the single robot designs just look kinda lame to me. That said, I don't begrudge those who do like them, because there are so many other cool transformers that are going to be coming out, there's no reason for me to be upset about PCC. It's only a gimmicky subline.
