I honestly think this will get a regular release through takara. I mean it will still be marked up... but at least it will be easier to get.

Thanks for that, you understand perfectly.

Usually the cost greatly outweighs the enjoyment of the experience.

We have to buy exclusives on eBay, usually from Chinese sellers, at a large markup.
If we buy directly from the US we end up paying just as much as the cost of the item (sometimes more) in postage costs.

Unless, being an exclusive from overseas, Takara offer it as a Lucky Draw prize.

That's the other way I have seen SDCC exclusive toys make their way to Australia, as prizes offered by toy stores.
If you spend X amount on selected product you can enter the draw to win an SDCC exclusive toy.

My girlfriend won one of those draws at Toys R Us once, by buying "Monster High" products.
In the end, though, Mattel Australia couldn't secure the SDCC exclusive "Monster High" doll they were promoting, so they had to substitute an "Ever After High" exclusive doll and a retail "Monster High" doll in place of the advertised prize.

I see. I thought certain there were retailers that carried sdcc exclusives as sort of part of their regular offerings. Kinda like when Hasbro Asia releases. Am I way off target there When it comes to product release comparisons?

Maybe. I hope so. It seems like a big chunk of Prime Wars mythos/storyline, don't see why not. Hasbro/Takara is just leaving money for 3rd party sellers if they don't. Maybe it'll just be instock for a long time on hasbrotoyshop.

It's not like is a random off the wall beat like Primitive Skateboarding Prime.

I doubt it. Takara has zero history of releasing Hasbro convention exclusives AFAIK.

I think that would be the first time ever that this occurred.

I think that at most, Takara would come up with their own expensive, hard to get exclusive. Don't know how likely that is, considering the "brand unification" thing...

The "brand unification" thing could actually mean that Takara does break precedent and actually use Throne of the Primes as their own convention exclusive. But, as has been said, if they did, it would be the first time ever. I wouldn't want to bet on that happening.

    Ebay:
Judging how the SDCC Primitive Prime was $50, just 5 buck above general release version, I am hoping that is in the ballpark of 50 or 60 bucks.

I could be totally wrong, and they are going to have it at $100 or more.

I think $100 would be a bit crazy for them to go far but could see like $70.

Better yet, plug in the four vote losers they made Titan Masters out of, Arcee, Megatron, Thunderwing and Ultra Magnus, and create the scepter of salt to match the throne. :D

I think I know what you were getting at, if you were referring to how, depending on distribution to your area, children are left unable to build Abominus or Elita Infinite as advertised, leaving sets unfinished and teams incomplete.

This is a problem, one much discussed in other threads, but the difference to me is that each of the Voyagers have been made available in retail packaging and so are, theoretically, available to children.

Unless Hasbro decide to re-release the Prime Masters from this SDCC exclusive another way, at retail, after Comic Con, those characters are simply not being made available to children who have collected all the others at retail.

I would feel very differently if all the Primes were released at retail in standard deco, and the SDCC versions were somehow "premium" versions (like the transparent plastic Megatronus Prime Master packed with Prime Wars Trilogy Blast Off.)

This would be serving the collector market with one hand while allowing children to complete their set with the other hand. It would be fair to far more people.

I hope we will get the rest of the Prime Masters released to retail in some form. It isn't a guarantee but they have the molds. It all depends on how well that price point has done in stores and if there is room for a last minute plan release. Unfortunately they might not have sold well with the distribution and less retail outlets issue this year.

My real hope is that the battle master price point will allow doing previous line -master type figures along with however that gimmick works.
