It’s obvious you’re failing to grasp the language of Alphard’s phrasing from the very beginning by thinking Universe Primal is a redeco of himself, so I’ll break it down.

    “X is a redeco of…”

This part is obvious, X being the figure in question being a redeco. What follows this statement is a description of what the redeco is. Its colors.

“X is a redeco of himself.

The bolded part indicates what the redeco is of. For example:

“Universe Silverbolt is a redeco of himself.”

This is an accurate statement because Universe Silverbolt’s colorscheme is based on Beast Machines Silverbolt’s color scheme, plus the Energon surge pattern on a lot of the Universe figures.

“Universe Silverbolt is a redeco of himself: Beast Machines Silverbolt.”

This is using Alphard’s phrasing, fully fleshed out with no room for doubt. On the other hand:

“Universe Primal is a redeco of himself.”

This is inaccurate because what Primal is a redeco of (what/whose color scheme it is) is completely original at that point. It’s not a previous color scheme he ever held, so wording this way is pointless because he’s never had those colors. It’s not a redeco of himself. It’s just a redeco. The only reason for adding the language of himself is to describe the color scheme as one previously held by Primal. It's redundant to say "redeco of himself" if the toy being used is the same character for the new deco. Hence, Alphard's surprise of this Optimal Optimus figure being released in a different Primal deco not related to the mold it's being released with. In order to phase out the way you're thinking of, it would go:

"Universe Optimus Primal is a redeco of Beast Wars Optimus Primal."

Which is exactly how it's phrased in news posts on this site.

But since you don’t seem to agree, let’s ask Alphard directly.

Hey, what did you have in mind when you posted that?

While I think it might have been true once (that Hasbro doesn't acknowledge the collector market), I don't think that's been true for many years now.

I don't know if you're stating this as though Hasbro themselves actually believe this or if you actually believe this, but either way it's very wrong.
Well, considering Hasbro themselves acknowledged at one of these conventions a year or two ago that adult collectors make up 30% of their fanbase and Transformers customers, as opposed to the 10% it was for many years before that, I'd say that that isn't true in the slightest, and likely comes from people who are bitter about something and take it out on Hasbro.
God, Blast-Off's brown looks even better in hand. HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG, I NEED HIM NOW!!!!!!!
NO! :stick:  Bad!! He can be added to the list, no problem. But no one is getting replaced.
Is it bad that I never noticed this until when I read it just now?...
    OMG!!! :lolol
:jawdropper:    PLEASE tell me that that is just a 3rd party seller on Amazon or Ebay or something and NOT HTS or something!!!!

The seller just wants a few suckers/winners to help fund his SDCC trip. You can live the SDCC experience vicariously through him with your wallet. :p

No, no, you misunderstood what Shattered Trousers was trying to say. Let me articulate what was meant.

Unless you live in the US, your chances of getting sdcc exclusives drop exponentially based on your individual circumstances. If you live outside the US, it'll be more difficult and more expensive to get to sdcc. And even if the exclusive does become available on hasbro toy store website, 99% of the time they refuse to ship outside US addresses. Their store even states that.

Here's the quoted website faq statement, specifically for Canadian orders for example; "Items that are not available to ship to Canada will be identified as you make your product selection and throughout the shopping cart process. At this time we are not able to ship to PEI."

That is what Shattered Trousers means, unless you live in the US, chances are you ain't getting shit.

How do folks outside the US typically get a hold of the sdcc exclusives?

    Not cheaply!

(Apart from that weird time last year when Primitive Prime popped up as an exclusive to a major Spanish retailer!)
