They could've at least made the throne premium. Not just a cardboard.
Sometimes you can't help to question the choices of toy companies in making their SDCC Exclusive toys.

I think when Hasbro use the word "fans" they are referring only to their image of an adult collector.

Adult collectors, or "fans," all post on forums, all have access to eBay and (allegedly) have the disposable income to buy an SDCC exclusive to complete our collections.
"Fans" also ALL live in the United States, and can freely order products like this set from Hasbro Toy Shop when they cannot attend SDCC.

I genuinely think, from Hasbro's perspective, they are making the four remaining Primes available to "fans." But "fans" are not Hasbro's primary audience.

My point earlier is that "Power of the Primes" is a toy range aimed at children. Adult collectors might be heavily invested in collecting "Power of the Primes," but it is a product line aimed at children.

I won't repeat my entire earlier post, but Hasbro have leaned hard into the "collect all 12 ( or 13) Prime Masters" angle and until now have made that goal achievable to children.

Side note: It's not an accident that the Voyagers come packed with an Enigma of Combination instead of a Prime Master - Hasbro kept the Primes separate as low-cost 'pocket money' toys. Children wouldn't be expected to buy all the Voyagers to get all the Prime Masters, just collect all of the small, affordable toys.

Their decision to make a large portion of the Prime Masters available only to the elite super-collector who can attend SDCC, or can afford to pay aftermarket prices on eBay, is sending a very clear, very negative message to children. "We know you would like to complete the set, but you can't, so just deal with it."

I think that's unscrupulous, on Hasbro's part, and I think it's unfair to children who are enthusiastic about Transformers.

    ~L~

LOL! Sorry, I couldn't help but laughed aloud when I saw your post...the emoji (?) didn't help either! X)

Yeah, I wished it wasn't cardboard but then...

...agreed...it will give Hasbro a chance to bump the price up.

Yeah, I concur with you. My younger kid liked this as he found the black gorilla mode cool but I told him that I need to see the price first - no way would an average parent fork out that much for a kid. If this was available at retail, I'll pick it up for my boys - I picked up the POTP Optimus and Rodimus and they like the figures.

I'm also wondering about Hasbro's view towards the older fans. If I recall correctly...some posts (either here or other boards) mention that Hasbro doesn't 'acknowledge' the collector market...which I find it hard to believe, given the way the toys are priced.

It’s obvious you’re failing to grasp the language of Alphard’s phrasing from the very beginning by thinking Universe Primal is a redeco of himself, so I’ll break it down.

    “X is a redeco of…”

This part is obvious, X being the figure in question being a redeco. What follows this statement is a description of what the redeco is. Its colors.

“X is a redeco of himself.

The bolded part indicates what the redeco is of. For example:

“Universe Silverbolt is a redeco of himself.”

This is an accurate statement because Universe Silverbolt’s colorscheme is based on Beast Machines Silverbolt’s color scheme, plus the Energon surge pattern on a lot of the Universe figures.

“Universe Silverbolt is a redeco of himself: Beast Machines Silverbolt.”

This is using Alphard’s phrasing, fully fleshed out with no room for doubt. On the other hand:

“Universe Primal is a redeco of himself.”

This is inaccurate because what Primal is a redeco of (what/whose color scheme it is) is completely original at that point. It’s not a previous color scheme he ever held, so wording this way is pointless because he’s never had those colors. It’s not a redeco of himself. It’s just a redeco. The only reason for adding the language of himself is to describe the color scheme as one previously held by Primal. It's redundant to say "redeco of himself" if the toy being used is the same character for the new deco. Hence, Alphard's surprise of this Optimal Optimus figure being released in a different Primal deco not related to the mold it's being released with. In order to phase out the way you're thinking of, it would go:

"Universe Optimus Primal is a redeco of Beast Wars Optimus Primal."

Which is exactly how it's phrased in news posts on this site.

But since you don’t seem to agree, let’s ask Alphard directly.

Hey, what did you have in mind when you posted that?

While I think it might have been true once (that Hasbro doesn't acknowledge the collector market), I don't think that's been true for many years now.

I don't know if you're stating this as though Hasbro themselves actually believe this or if you actually believe this, but either way it's very wrong.
Well, considering Hasbro themselves acknowledged at one of these conventions a year or two ago that adult collectors make up 30% of their fanbase and Transformers customers, as opposed to the 10% it was for many years before that, I'd say that that isn't true in the slightest, and likely comes from people who are bitter about something and take it out on Hasbro.
God, Blast-Off's brown looks even better in hand. HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG, I NEED HIM NOW!!!!!!!
NO! :stick:  Bad!! He can be added to the list, no problem. But no one is getting replaced.
Is it bad that I never noticed this until when I read it just now?...
    OMG!!! :lolol
:jawdropper:    PLEASE tell me that that is just a 3rd party seller on Amazon or Ebay or something and NOT HTS or something!!!!
