Inspired by a few others that have done this, I wanted to make my slash Slag more G1 cartoon accurate. So I removed the head, removed the paint from said head, and repainted the eyes and the cheek guards of the helmet. Mine did not have the stress fracture on the nose (like others have reported), so I was able to leave his face red, just like I wanted him.

Your avatars make you look like a split personality yelling at itself.

Also, nice work on the figure.

This looks so much better. If my stores would get PotP I’d be doing this

Only took me the better part of a month to reply, but thanks all! Has anyone taken apart Slag's legs? It looked like a large pin holding it together at the dino leg joint, and a screw. I think I'd like to do the thighs white, but only if I can get it apart and strip the existing paint off first.

I have, partially. You are correct about the pin and screw. I was able to unscrew the legs (I didn't touch the pin) and open the top of the legs up just enough to remove the thigh from the peg they are on but just by a hair. The legs are grey plastic and honestly don't look bad as is after removing the paint. I would really like to see what they look like in white. I tried to paint mine but failed so I stripped the white off and left as is.

I started to try that exact same thing, and then chickened out because I didn't want to inadvertently break it or create stress lines. I may give it another go this week, and if I do get them off, I'll for sure paint them white. And I'm undecided on the shoulder mod...I'll have to ponder that some more.

I did it no problem. The plastic pannel that keeps the thigh on bends quite a bit. Ive taken the thighs off my slag multiple times now with no issue. Nothing to be scared of.

You were right, I got the thighs off with no problem. Paints stripped, parts are cleaned, and I'll be adding paint next week! As far as the pins go, they weren't too bad, because you have easy access to them. Only bad thing is, I have a hairline fracture in the end cap that hinges the dino jaw (caused by not applying the right pressure when I put the pins back in...clamping the assembly together better would probably have prevented that).

For the life of me, I could not get the pins knocked out on my dino head. I improvised and took a rubber coated twist tie and sort of wiggled it behind the robot head and slipped the head itself off the mushroom peg. No pin removal needed. The head was a bit stubborn but it eventually came off. I've got the paint stripped and will paint the eyes blue.

Out of curiosity, what was used to strip the paint?

I used 91% isopropyl alcohol with about a cap full of paint thinner. Takes most factory paint apps right off, but you have to be careful with clear pieces (not that I had any to worry about here).

It only took me a couple tries, but I finally got Slag's thighs painted. I have to say, I dig the, but I struggle with painting neatly in white.
