I agree with the appeal of a G1 aesthetic. It’s what drew me to this set. I own Feral, Ares, AND Warlord (don’t judge me! Dev & PK are my favorite TFs! ), but this one really nails that G1 “look” for me. What I didn’t like was the G1 “pose-ability” (if not worse, these things were practically a Megazord), and my mind saw all these little “tweaks” that would really bring out what was already there but hidden or restricted.
What do you plan to do for the weapons. Eventually I plan to do pre beast predacons and have no idea for the weapons
Each will be getting their standard (but special) sword, plus a unique character weapon. No blasters (besides the ones they come with). Those are something I’d like to see from Shapeways or PE (why no announcements?).
Minor update to Divebomb. Decided to take the upper ridge on his “wing-pack” completely off. To not only give the head more presence, but to also make the wings seem more a “part” of his body and not a “backpack”. Last update for bit while I await some parts/supplies!
Neck Update to Razorclaw: Hated how Razorclaw’s Head was neckless, so after some furrther disassembly and some brainstorming, I did this. Take this neck piece (after removing the pin) from this: Put a piece of metal tubing in and extended the pin hole into a channel so it can slide in and out, pivot up and down, while still retaining rotation at the head: Also trimmed the back of the beard line to allow for the new neck articulation (and also separate it from the main body when “compressed”. And now his neck can do this: ...and THIS: Looks WAY better in both modes now. The beard trim alone helps alleviate the “block body”, and the extendable neck adds tons to the pose-ability. (Both could have been easy adjustments on Hasbro end! Hire me Hasbro! )
Absolutely awesome! I know that was a lot of work, but it definitely paid off in the end. And to answer your question, seeing the before pics and reading the specifics of the project is way better than just seeing the finished product.
Latest update: I originally didn’t have anything planned for blasters, but... (Note: These will all be getting extra paint and stickers, just thought I’d show them “stock” first!) Razorclaw’s had that big multi-barrel gun, so I just took it to the next level: (Backpack and ammo belt are detachable) Rampage had the long gun with big sight on it, so I took that to the next level too: Divebomb’s guns received an attachment connected by gold coil to the guns rear for some extra flair: Headstrong/Tantrum got barrel extensions, with optional blast effect (with lights!): And a group shot of the armory so far (still need to do 2 more cannon blasts as well!).
And finally we have tails! Last update before they all get some paint/stickers/decals! Tails are actually flexible coil, the other pictures make them seem “smooth”.
While I’m still waiting on some parts (stupid slow mail...), I added ball joints to Tantrum & Headstrong. Now they can actually pose more than just the left/right swivel. (Also filled in the underside of Tantrum’s horns and painted the forehead [not final])
The ball joint additions don't look like they'd affect the combined mode either. I know these are de-combined, but that mod looks to be universal for each idea. I like it!
Yup! A good chunk of these mods can still be done to a “combining” Set. So take and use what you like, that’s what this board is about.
