    UPDATE ON POST 7.

Not much was done to the Dinobots. I chromed the parts that I could to make them as accurate to the toys as I could. I think slag benefited the most though.

Grimlock: Dino arms and tail work chromed.
Slag: Chrome the frill lower jaw and the dinosaurs back. Also Chrome to the gun and got a sword from shapeways.
    Swoop: wings were chromed.
Sludg: robot wings/ dinosaur body was chromed.
Snarl: dinosaur tail was painted gold and sword was painted red.
Combiner feet and two hands were painted silver with gold spikes and the other two hands only got the gold spikes.

If anyone knows of a grey paint that matches the plastic color I'd like to know so I can paint the dino legs on snarl and sludge.

That looks great. I'm in the process of doing the same thing.

What color paints did you use? Did you apply a top coat tot the chrome?

I used Tamiya X-7 Red for the swords (with a white base coat) X-12 gold leaf and XF-16 flat aluminum for snarls tail and hands and feet. And X-13 metallic blue for slags shoulders.
I airbrushed Molotow liquid chrome (though I think I may have thinned it out a little too much) and used Alclad gloss klear koat on it and everything else.

Finally got around to doing a little extra work on grimlock, snarl and sludge. Snarl and sludge got some gray paint on their clear parts to give them the layered look. Grimlock got the same with some gold paint on his torso and both grimlock and snarl got some paint on their hips to mimic the sticker detail. Grimlock also got his reprolabels.

Tamiya neural grey mixed with a littl bit of flat aluminum.
