Kaiju Combat is the potential new giant monster fighting game (could be Godzilla 4) Kickstarter project, by the team who brought us Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee (GCN, Xbox), Godzilla: Save the Earth (PS2, Xbox), and Godzilla: Unleashed (Wii, PS2)!

Kaiju Combat - Giant Monsters. Awesome Fighting. Online. by Sunstone Games, LLC. — Kickstarter

This is looks like it could be really cool. Particularly if you're into Godzilla and/or fighting games.

EDIT: Updated link to new Kickstarter page.

Seriously people, if you want another Godzilla game, BACK THIS PROJECT UP.

Donate just 20 bucks or if you're a cheapskate, $1. Every dollar counts.

I'm surprised it reached 3K within 24 hours.

I think they should build a proven product with generic, KC-designed monsters and maybe some fan-input creations before trying to spend a ton of money on an official license. Go for something that's "theirs", even if it might not have the draw the Godzilla license would give.

Which isn't to say they couldn't do the idea with some awesome monsters of their own, but the problem is that when licenseholders like Toho want to make a video game for their properties, they'll usually do it in such a way they maintain creative control. This could make things difficult, even for people who have worked with them in the past.

Not gonna make it. It needs $350k to get started and it's at less than 10k now and it only has 23 days left. Maybe if someone at Kotaku and GameBreaker could help get this project some exposure, it'd make the deadline, other wise I don't see it happening.

Yeah, this is exactly what this project needs - exposure.

Kotaku has a "Send a Tip" link at the bottom of their page. It goes to tips@kotaku.com.

Shoot them an e-mail and see if we can get a story for Kaiju Combat. Just need more eyeballs on this thing...

A good part of me would rather see those than the Toho critters, frankly.
