got the premiere tix, 'bout to enter the cinema bitches!
see you on the other side!
Let me know if you see a He-Man trailer. Or just a guy in spandex tights with a big sword. And if you do, tell him his son told him to go home.
hmmm... do I get my ticket for the 8pm showing tomorrow evening? Or do I go for the Friday morning "no asshole high schoolers" showing? Decisions decisions...
I tried to make an effort to see some of the big movies this summer in the theatre this summer because I had not been dissapointed with any of them yet.
GRINDHOUSE? Blew my fucking mind AWESOME!
Spiderman 3.....eh...I really liked Topher, and the fight scenes...bout it.
I think ill skip pirates because of the convulted plot...have not seen 2...
Ill probably watch that giant robot movie though....
just got out and IT. WAS. FUCKING. AMAZING.
everybody got bits to play their character proper, amazing set pieces and even a neat twist there at the end, fucking brilliant.
and if there was any doubt about this franchise playing homage to star wars, the beginning of the 1st act totally tips off ROTJ, with sao feng playing jabba, liz and barbosa going to the palace with a proposition, will as han solo the abductee, jones and that poncy git as vader and emperor. tia dalma as yoda, she even has a speech impediment. ooh, and norrington plays lando.
ARR! HERE THAR BE SPOILERS!
anyways, liz and barbosa get this map from sao feng to help them fetch jack from jones locker. the trip there is pure terry gilliam, great set pieces. after they fetch him, the story is driven by wills desire to rescue his dad, liz wanting to avenge her dad (he dies) and jack wanting to take over jones place. much backstabbing machination occurs.
laters, the pirates have this pirate convention to decide what to do abt the EIC wanting to track em down and kill em, who has jones on his side. then they bring out fucking keith richards! fucking brilliant.
so then we get to see a battle scene between black pearl and flying dutchman in a fucking whirlpool, fucking crazy shit, i swear youve never seen anything like it. also the most awsum wedding scene evar! and they actually made orlando bloom awsum.
fuck spiderman 3.
fuck die hard 4.
this is the movie to beat.
go see now.
well? what are you waiting for. go!
we need more spoilers god damn it
I want a less biased opinion!
your momma has a less biased opinion.
i'm stopped running around like headless chicken and i hereby present to you the low points:
- the plot is still hella confusing, i lost it at the scene with sao feng macking liz, chow yuen fatts accent doesnt help, but he has hella presence in this movie, very nahce.
- the comedy bits, especially ragetti n pintels r2 and 3po schtick, feels forced at times.
- the resolution of tia dalma and jones are kinda weak.
but the ending scene is SO good. ships fighting whirlpool, swordfights atop ship mast,...
...MONKEY CANNONBALL. i can say no more.
I'm going to see it this weekend.
Glad to hear it doesn't dissapoint.
My wife says she hated the previous because she didn't like the "sea monsters" look of the crew. So she's wondering if it's even worth seeing the last one. Meanwhile, I'm almost as excited about it as I am about Transformers because I LOVED the last one.
I got notice last night about this and got pissed at myself for having just bought a guitar. I usually hate gimmick guitars, but pirate schtick is cool no matter where it is. Plus, it's "Blood Red."
There's just too much cool stuff going down this summer, and I'm just way too broke for all of it.
Must see this movie.
For me, it was better than the second, but not as good as the fist. It was convoluted enough that I think I need to rewatch it. Oh, and you may want to stay through the credits, as there's one more scene.
crap! i left early, had to pee. dude post it (or pm me).
As much as you love POTC, you didn't know to stay after the credits?
I'm revoking your cool card for a period of no less than three days. Unless you go again and sit through the credits. Then I'll give it back to you.
Just got back from the movie and I loved it! No Transformers trailer, though.
Convoluted is the right word for it. Everybody stabbed everybody else in the back and it was tough keeping the players straight. I read somewhere that there's a lot of Jack Sparrow in this film and they weren't kidding! I'm still trying to digest everything so I haven't really decided what I think about how certain things turned out. Some things went down exactly as I knew they would and some things took me completely by surprise. It's definitely open-ended, so I doubt this is the last we've seen of good ol' Captain Jack. And if you thought Keith Richards as Jack's dad was something, wait until you see his mom!
In any case, I can't wait to see it again, although I'll probably wait until I don't have to wait in line.
BTW, the movie's about 2:45-ish, so don't drink anything before or during the movie. And absolutely stay for the final scene after the credits!
Just got back. Had a grin thought the whole thing.
Ok, seriously, Transformers better kick ass because this is #1 as of now.
I missed the final scene due to the fact that I went with friends and they refused to stay for the credits. Sadly I didn't drive so I was out of luck. If some one could tell me I'd be grateful. Have to say though it's rare that all 3 movies of a trilogy are this good.
As much as I loved the Pirates franchise, I found this movie convoluted for its own good....however, I agree, this movie definately edges out Spidey 3. Keith Richards' performance was extremely good. I had a kick watching him!
I didn't find it that convoluted, and found the story very easy to follow. I think these movies got better with each one. This was a great movie.
