Okay, Victory and Masterforce were G1, but I thought Sunbow locked the doors after the G.I. Joe movie.
So who did the actual animation for the post Rebirth episodes?

I thought Sunbow was a division of Toei?
I notice some of the voicists are from each.
Peter Cullen was Optimus of Sunbow and Vengar of AD&D, Toei.

    Were both studios Japanamation?

So I've never been in the biz... so Sunbow designs the storyboards and soundtracks... and then sends them to Toei?

Something like that.. Sunbow had the Writers write the episode.. then had people storyboard the episodes based on the scripts.. then farmed out a certain number of episodes to each studio..

Atleast I think thats how it works..

Toei must be a big studio then. Saint Seiya and Jem were in production at the same time.

    Toei IS a big studio.

And when THEY got too busy, they'd subcontract it out to yet OTHER studios. How freaky is that?

And yet, the Japanese cartoons are repart of the ex-Sunbow license package.

Sunbow was an American company set up by the Griffin-Bacal Advertising Agency to produce animation for their clients. They sub-contracted the work for Transformers (and a lot of other shows) to Marvel Productions, who in turn contracted Toei and other studios to actual animate the dang things.
