Yes it really is, I cannot for the life of me tell you why but I am obsessing over this thing, and not in a bad way I am just so caught off guard by it lol.

The worst part is as much as I hate it, his head is shockingly fitting with the body

Maybe it's some little in-joke towards Hopkins' Hannibal Lecter, who wore a man's face as a mask.

Sure, if splicing animation models is too boring an explanation for you.

Same reason Leadfoot had Ratchet's voice in AOE?

Watch Ratchet get resurrected in TF6 only this time he'll have Topspin's hair.

The animators clearly just took random ass parts of the wreckers to make a new generic Autobot. Topspin doesn't even have hands, he had two massive claw things, and they clearly gave this robot hands.

Neither here nor there but WHY was Topspin (and others) given asylum in Cuba ? For what reason ? To hang out with Simmons all day ? I can understand for military assistance, security, and maybe even as a tourist attraction sort of thing but I wish that would have been fleshed out. In addition, I assume Simmons could have found a better place than Cuba to escape to. I doubt he became that much of a pariah for being a buddy to the Autobots.

Topspin actually does have hands. If you look at his deluxe toy from DOTM you can see he has molded fists underneath the claws.

    ...or maybe Toptwist....or....Twinspin...sorry, couldn't resist....lol....

(Actually, that would be pretty cool - a TS/TT two-pack in which you can swap arms and legs, etc.. and merge each of them here and there. Kind of like the "Mashable" figures but the concept goes further...)

I brought up the big claws yesterday too as I thought TopSpin had them all through DOTM but if you look at the scene in DOTM where he's lifting stuff with them, he does have normal hands but the claws are on the arm itself and are not his hands. And I pointed out that This "TopFoot" or "LeadSpin" whatever you want to call him, didn't have the claws. And Red Goblin also pointed out that TopSpin in DOTM did not have the claws all movie either. As seen here.

Technically, that could happen easily. Lockdown took Ratchets spark. Retrieve the spark, insert into a new body and then ????

It worked in "Starscream's Brigade" and in issue #14 of the original comic...

Does he have them on the actual CGI model, though?

Edit: My bad, I looked it up, and there is in fact a moment in the film where he's standing around with normal hands.

I still think the Bots in Cuba are the same ones that Attinger said in AOE that a handful were given asylum. Because in the start of this scene Burton says that Castro is letting the Bots Sun on his beaches. And you see they are openly mingling with the people and no one seems to care. I do believe that these were supposed to be the 2 remaining Wreckers and a 3rd Bot. Just my 2 cents.

Why not? Cuban government saw them doing more good than harm and another way to stick it to America. As for Simmons, he was sector 7 and would have a fair amount of Intel as was demonstrated in ROTF a an when he didnt have clearance. He would be more of a threat than Sam and his family and theyre pretty much confirmed to be dead

I honestly thought he was a new character at first. Just another recycled cgi model. He's called "Volleybot" in the end credits for crying out loud.
